Fashion talks. If we try to understand this short sentence figuratively, these are the main ideas that are going to cross our mind: designer clothes and accessories talk about the person who has designed them, your wardrobe talks about your fashion style, the clothing you wear may talk about where you are planning to go or what mood you are in and so on. But let’s try to take this phrase literally. We all have seen those blouses and t-shirts and even sweatshirts that tell us something about the person wearing them, haven’t we? Some of these people are professing their love for a city, for a team or a cause, others are urging to keep calm because everything’s going to work out and so on. In other words, clothing items with messages are something we have seen before. But designer bags with messages? That is something new, isn’t it? Although shirts and blouses with different prints and phrases will never go out of fashion, we think they are something which have been topics of discussion one too many times. If you go through the fall 2014 accessories collection of almost any designer, you are sure to find one or two bags with messages. So let’s check out some of these bags that “speak”, shall we?
Phillip Lim’s collections have always been elegant and interesting, and the new trend featuring talking bags that the designer presented us in the 3.1 Phillip Lim fall-winter 2014/15 collection is no exception. Leather bags and clutches in subtle tones with words such as “cash”(probably telling about the contents of the bag), “amaze” (that is probably what the proud owners of the bag are going to do), “totes”, “only” and so on, are signs that will help us identify, who the designer is.
Among other things, Paris Fashion Week will be remembered for Kenzo’s fall 2014 “statement-making” clutches. Probably a little big for a clutch and very simple in form, asking the everlasting question of “Forever, No?”, those clutches were both cute and touching. Although the message may mean different things to different people, we got to admit it had the power to touch something within us.
Remember those colorful Chanel bags that said “Chanel No 5” and came as if put in little shopping baskets? We do too! We mean, how could you forget that? A little bizarre, yes! But when has bizarreness stopped us?
We all loved RED Valentino’s fall/winter 2014 collection! Whether it was because the collection made us go back into our childhood or it were just the brightly colored cute fashion pieces, it was a collection we will remember for a long time. The line was inspired by a classic Disney character: Snow White. The major reigning colors are red, yellow and blue. There are dresses that show Snow White biting on the deadly poisonous apple, high heeled shoes with interesting prints, and cute bags and clutches with bow ties, pictures and, of course, famous phrases from the famous fairy tale and cartoon. One of the bags says “Once upon a time”, a phrase with which almost every fairytale begins. One other bag bares the famous words “The Fairest of them All” depicted on a shiny, “mirrory” background. Oh, we see what you did there!
