Now that the rumors have died down about 82-year-old Karl Lagerfeld leaving Chanel, it’s time to look forward at what the designer will be offering next. It seems that next in line for the designer with his eponymous label will be Karl Lagerfeld bridal jewelry. This seems to be a fitting addition to a brand helmed by Lagerfeld, as the man gave a verbal contract, of sorts, that he will continue to work in the fashion industry until the day he dies – “‘Till death do us part” works just as well for Lagerfeld’s love affair with fashion as it does when spoken at the end of a wedding aisle.
The deal to create the bridal jewelry line was struck with U.S. manufacturer Frederick Goldman Inc., according to WWD, and the resulting collection will consist of engagement and wedding rings, which we are certain will be nothing less than spectacular. “Our fine jewelry licensing agreement with one of the leading companies in its field, Frederick Goldman Inc., represents an exciting step for the development of our global brand and business,” said Pier Paolo Righi, the president and CEO of the Karl Lagerfeld Group.
The stones within the rings will all be precious diamonds; nothing but the best materials for the Lagerfeld woman! The designs are said to be more contemporary, as opposed to creating classic rings, in order to uphold the signature “iconic, creative, and cool” mentality of the label, and the designer himself. Also according to the brand, the price range will be targeting customers who wish to be a luxury customer; in other words, those who work toward gaining status, in order to achieve such a lifestyle. The designs will surely be something Lagerfeld himself would stand behind, so there is nothing but confidence in what the jewelry will look like. This is a sentiment shared by Jonathan Goldman, the CEO of Frederick Goldman Inc., particularly due to the modern styles.
“With our company’s 68 years of expertise in the fine jewelry industry, we are certain that the new Karl Lagerfeld bridal and wedding jewelry will drive and inspire the designer-conscious, Millennial consumer who seeks style and appreciates bridal jewelry,” Goldman said, in an interview with WWD.
Now, we can just tack this on to the many things Lagerfeld has going on with his eponymous label, as well as with his creative director positions at luxury fashion houses Chanel and Fendi. Just with his own brand, he is to maintain men’s, women’s, and children’s ready to wear lines, casual menswear, accessories collections, and fragrances, and now he is choosing to expand further into the bridal industry. Not only is he not backing down from his position at Chanel, but also he is moving faster in all regards. The rumors could not have been more wrong here.
The new Karl Lagerfeld bridal jewelry collection will become available for purchase in September 2016, with an initial viewable release date of May 31 at the Luxury by JCK show over in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will take place between May 31 and June 6, so potential buyers can expect to preview the wares during this time.
