Keira Knightley, Chanel’s Perennial Muse, Makes a Comeback for Chanel Jewelry Campaign

One of the epitomes of elegance and sophistication, Keira Knightley is one of Chanel’s perennial muses, with her iconic portraits being part of campaigns for the Coco Rouge Lipstick in 2015 and the Coco Mademoiselle Perfume in 2007. She has now made a much-acclaimed comeback for the Chanel fall 2016 jewelry campaign, posing for the camera lens of iconic fashion photographer Mario Testino.

Keira Knightley for Chanel Jewelry Campaign 2016

By appearing in Chanel’s jewelry campaign, the British actress is thus following in the footsteps of muses Jac Jagaciak and Sigrid Agren, whose portraits for the brand’s previous ad campaigns will surely never leave the Hall of Fame of Fashion.

As for this specific shot by Testino, Keira Knightley is seen wearing a statement bangle on her arm, a powerful necklace and multiple rings in gold and white gold, and all of them perfectly match the photograph’s cold undertones. She is wearing her hair in an elegant tousled updo, while her eyes are enhanced with mysterious, sensual smokey eye makeup. Her facial bone structure has been accentuated with soft contouring touches, which make her classic yet unconventional beauty stand out even more.

Keira is resting her head in her hand, in what appears to be a natural, thoughtful pose (Testino always makes his portraits look as natural as possible). Her total-black outfit balances both the portrait’s focal points (namely her face and the jewelry she is wearing) and the contrasting undertones of the background.

“She has been a friend of the house for many years. Thanks to her natural elegance and freedom, she perfectly embodies this resolutely modern fine jewellery collection,” Chanel’s headquarters stated in a press release.

The campaign confirms the longtime loving relationship between the British actress and Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld, who always gets inspired by ethereal beauties that exude elegance and strength wherever they go. Keira Knightley is a big fan of Lagerfeld-approved statement pieces and jewelry too, as she never misses a chance to value the designer’s incredible artisanal skills and timeless aesthetics. She even turned to him to design her wedding dress back in 2013, when she tied the knot with now husband James Righton.

The Chanel jewelry fall 2016 campaign coincides with the debut of the actress’s upcoming ‘Collateral beauty’ film, where her astounding acting talent will be seen along with Helen Mirren, Naomie Harris and Kate Winslet. Given the fact that she will be possibly wearing Chanel’s jewelry pieces for the film premier, we can rightly call the campaign the result of a perfect timing and marketing strategy, too!
