Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine Debuts a Shoe Line on Net-a-Porter

Wacky, iconic and filtered through the perfect Man Repeller-style, Leandra Medine’s debut shoe line on Net-a-Porter is already one of today’s most discussed fashion topics, and it is not that hard to understand why. Founder of cult website Man Repeller, whose philosophy is that of empowering women through fashion, Leandra Medine has one of the most irreverent and fun styles of the blogosphere, with a strong focus on footwear.

Available since Thursday October 27th, Leandra Medine’s MR by Men Repeller 10-piece capsule shoe collection for Net-a-Porter perfectly embodies Medine’s own style and personality, and basically urges us to just go crazy and never be afraid of playing with fashion.

“Few things are more powerful than great shoes. They can change your ENTIRE look,” explained Medine while being interviewed by Net-a-Porter’s Faran Krentcil, and we couldn’t agree more while looking at her one-of-a-kind brand new styles of shoes.

Priced from $350 for a lace-up pair of flats to $795 for a pair of velvet cuissardes, Medine’s MR by Men Repeller Net-a-Porter shoe line was created by the fashionista-turned-designer with “hearty love and care,” namely the same care she puts while editing her website.

As Medine told Fashionista, in fact, “there was no real creative counterpart to bounce the ideas off of—these shoes are completely born out of my own mental conceptions, which is wild, but also very fulfilling.”

The pieces, which all feature evocative names, such as “Lol If You Think I’m Walking” and “The Morning After”, all exude strong party-ready vibes, as well as a clear fascination for both the Eighties and the Nineties.

Flats, platforms, over-the-knee boots, loafers and booties are the selected models, and of course include “unexpected colors and fabrics” that, as she reported to Fashionista, “are supposed to become one with their wearer; I don’t want the women who purchase these shoes to feel like they are dressing like me, they’re supposed to take the shoes and make them their own. That’s what style is all about.”

Metallic gold and gray, straps in rainbow shades, eccentric embroideries and refined materials are thus at the core of each style, which in return will give you the right amount of high glamour whether you are opting for a casual-chic outfit or willing to dare more with whimsical holiday-ready proposals.

As for Medine’s favorite pair of shoes, she declared the “Alternative to Bare Feet” loafers are ones she loves the most, as she has “always been a frequent wearer of loafers – we got the perfect silhouette here: they’re not too delicate and feminine, nor are they overtly chunky,” she concluded.
