Swarovski has tapped the famous Australian supermodel, Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, who has been the company’s face since 2013, to collaborate on the design of exclusive jewelry items for the upcoming holiday season. We are amazed at her diligence and ability to manage and combine so many things at once: a mom of a 4-year-old son, a model, designer… seeing her perfect looks and hard work makes us envious and who wouldn’t like to emulate her? Appearing in so many Swarovski campaigns, Miranda decided to design her own line for the brand and she unveiled the collaboration when attending a press conference in Innsbruck, Austria.
The idea of collaborating with Swarovski creative director Nathalie Colin had formerly been mentioned in May 2014 at a press conference in Australia, Miranda revealed, and the aim was to create products suitable for everyday casual wear. “It’s such a wonderful opportunity to be able to work with a brand that I know and that has such a strong history and has all of these amazing resources, and the technology and the experience,” Miranda mentioned at a telephone interview with WWD. Featuring two different lines – Diapason and Duo, the exclusive Miranda Kerr for Swarovski jewelry collection will hit Swarovski stores and counters worldwide in the upcoming season. The pieces will retail for a price range between $69 and $299.
While the Diapason line is more focused on classic designs with a romantic feel bringing clear crystal designs matched with V-shaped and Y-shaped necklaces, the Duo pieces are primarily meant for layering, including necklaces with thin chains and symbol pendants. Miranda will be in lead poses of the holiday campaign shot by Vinoodh Matadin and Inez Lamsweerde, where she wears pieces from Diapason collection along with Stardust Deluxe bracelet and a Crystalline Oval watch. With her gentle warm smile, Kerr looks gorgeous in those Images making us believe that anything would suit her.
The collaboration with Swarovski notes her first try as an accessory designer. Kerr has released her own line of organic cosmetics, called Kora Organics, published self-help books “Empower Yourself” and “Treasure Yourself”, and she cooperates with chinaware-maker Royal Albert on a tea ware collection. She explained this new cooperation as another extension of her creative side, adding that she enjoys creating items that are both beautiful and meaningful. Not only are the jewelry pieces beautiful, but also the names she has given to the designs are positively cool bringing such categories as Spirit, Strength, Grace, Joy, Luck and Love. There are symbols for each category in the line, like a heart motif standing for Love, a star for Joy, an evil eye for Strength and the like. Miranda’s favorite in the collection? The evil eye, which “is about living your life with confidence”, as the cutie pie explains it herself.
The chief executive officer of the Swarovski consumer goods business, Robert Buchbauer appreciates Miranda for she represents part of company’s values as to stand for innovation, while being fashionable and friendly. Swarovski has planned to go ahead cooperating with Kerr extending the Duo line in 2016 based on the results of the success of the first line, which makes about third of Swarovski’s holiday offering this year. The executive officer is optimistic on the breakthrough of the collection internationally considering the size and prize points.
