Poppy Delevingne and Aquazzura Team Up to Design Shoes

London model and jetsetter Poppy Delevingne has teamed up with Edgardo Osorio, cofounder and creative director of Aquazzura, a luxury footwear label based in Florence, to create an eight-piece collection for December. Whether you are a fan of this idea or the brand itself, you instantly get hooked on such exciting collaborations, since it’s always interesting to see the result of a joint work between a renowned brand and a famous It girl, especially when that girl is Poppy.

“I’ve always admired Poppy and I love her style,” Osorio began. In fact, the Poppy Delevingne x Aquazzura collection was inspired by the bohemian theme of Delevingne’s wedding to James Cook last year, which Osorio described as being “mystical and romantic, but interpreted in a way that felt very charming and English.”

In similar favor, Delevingne seems to also be super-excited about this collaboration, as she said of Osorio: “Each time a new collection is released, I become more attached to the Aquazzura aesthetic. I love wearing [Osorio’s] shoes; they always have a sense of humor to them.”

The capsule collection, simply dubbed Aquazzura x Poppy Delevingne, is said to bring a pair of signature Aquazzura laced flats sporting moon and star motifs, which were inspired by a pair of Delevingne’s earrings. Other style features of the collection include lace-up sandals, cashmere, and espadrilles.

This isn’t Aquazzura’s first attempt to team up with an It girl, as exactly this time last year they launched a limited edition shoe line designed with Olivia Palermo. Seeing the success of the collection, the brand has sought out Poppy amongst the crowd of fashion influencers and we are more than sure that it’s going to be a super-romantic collection spiced up with Poppy’s personal boho-chic style.

Knowing Osorio’s past aesthetic, we know we can look forward to a fun, slightly kooky shoe collection that embodies the fun spirit of luxury footwear. With prices ranging from $595 to $1,450, followers can only wait with bated breath for a glimpse into the minds of Poppy and Edgardo with this collaboration. The wait will be over at the end of November, when the collection will be available for preorder on the Aquazzura website, followed by its in-store presence at Level Shoe District in Dubai as well as online outlets such as Net-a-Porter.

While the budget is clearly higher than what the average fashionista can afford, there is an element of fantasy to waiting for the shoe line to be made public. I know personally I won’t be able to add any of these new shoes to my wardrobe, but that doesn’t ebb my excitement for this collaboration. One of the best aspects of luxury fashion is that you don’t always need to feel the pain of not being able to buy the pieces being produced. I definitely feel that now, and I know I’m not alone with that. Again bringing up to idea of fantasy, runway shows and luxury collections really skirt the line between commercial, ready-to-wear clothes and extravagant high fashion. That’s also the line between clothes and art. Luxury fashion is beautiful to look at, and that’s no secret, so watching a runway show or new collection come out is just as great as walking through a museum.

And there is no art form more diverse than in the fashion industry. With a collaboration like this one being formed, there’s no question that an exceptional showing will be ready for anyone who wants to see. With Aquazzura’s lasting reputation mixed with Poppy Delevingne’s trendy, globe-trotting lifestyle, it’s easy to predict that this collection will blow viewers away.
