Sophia Webster Spring/Summer 2016 Shoes and Bags

Sophia Webster’s presentations are always fairytale inspired. With the colorful and bright Sophia Webster spring/summer 2016 show unveiled at London Fashion Week, it is not hard to guess who her favorite Disney princess was. When we saw the theme of the show defined in the posters as “Mermaid Launderette”, we did not quite realize what it meant: well, it appears little mermaid served as her source of inspiration and the season’s creative set-up was magnificent and enchanting.

What we saw was mind-blowing: a group of mermaids laundered their tails and hung them on a washing line, just to chill off a couple of hours lounging on blue satin sheets, inside a giant oyster shell in Sophia Webster bejewelled shoes. The staging of the magnificent show was created by the celebrated set designer Shona Heath, who successfully brought to life Sophia Webster’s insanely beautiful imaginary world.

The idea itself was insane, but the new Sophia Webster spring 2016 shoes and bags were way more breathtaking. Staying true to her philosophy of accessories – “pretty as a picture and twice as glam”– Sophia created a wonderful collection of bags, shoes and swimming hats. The part with hats came up as a surprise, but then again every self-respecting mermaid must have a bejeweled swimming cap, matching with her gorgeous bejeweled sandals.

Marine motifs were depicted in every bag and pair of shoes to celebrate the vibrancy of the ocean life. We loved every single pair – the lovely multi strap sandals, and the bejeweled platform sandals in candy pink and pastel blue, the peep toe pumps with large eye-catching flowers, peep toe ballerinas, d’Orsay flats, lavender kittens, slingbacks performed in different leathers and colors and the stilettoes. Taking into consideration the diverse tastes and preferences of her fans Webster offered a very rich variety, where surely every girl can find her perfect pair.

Webster’s gorgeous collection was in a more subdued palette dominated by soft soothing pastels like baby pink, lavender, cream, baby blue, peach highlighted by multi-colored vibrant jewels, which indeed played an integral role in the collection. Some other ingenious pairs carried Webster’s signature witty slogans like “Beach Baby” and “Naughty Cool”.

Every girl knows that an outfit is never complete without a matching bag, especially knowing that Webster offered her dedicated fans bejeweled, multicolored box clutches or fun and witty canteen bags all as glam as possible. We found the slogans of canteen bags like “Don’t be Jelly” or “Naughty cool” very flirty and fun.

Webster not only presented her wonderful spring collection, but also visualized her beautiful imaginary world, where modern mermaids live, do their laundry and chill off in the most glam shoes one can imagine. After all mermaids also sometimes need a day off and time to sport shoes ditching their pretty tails. Sophia Webster’s spring 2016 collection of shoes and bags was the dream-come-true of every fashion conscious girl.
