With the arrival of the sunshine days, we all rush to replenish our beach bags with the beach beauty must-haves in order to look hot on the beach and relax to the max. Summer is all about sunshine and fun, cool pool parties and lazy days spent on the beach, sexy bronzed skin and flirty swimwear. However, summer is also about harmful UV rays, humidity, high temperature and its frequent changes. First and foremost it’s important to take some measures in order to protect our skin, lips and hair from the possible sun damage. Alongside the appropriate makeup products, every girl is to keep beauty routine in check and make sure she has all the beach beauty essentials in her beach bag.
Although preparing your beach bag for the hot summer days may seem an exciting and easy-to-do task, you are likely to miss out some important beach beauty essentials if you don’t plan everything beforehand. To make sure you are 100% ready to hit the beach, read through the following list of summer beauty must-haves and hurry up to get the pieces you have left out.
Although this may seem quite boring to some of you, it’s important to carry a good sunscreen in your beach bag every time you plan to spend a day in the sun. Sunscreen is the first thing in your beach bag. It protects the skin from UV damage and reduces the chances of skin cancer. So make sure to apply a generous amount of sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 and even higher 30 minutes before going out. It’s important to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours while in the sun after sweating and staying in the water for more than 40 minutes. The best option is to choose a sunscreen against both UVA (ultraviolet-A) and UVB (ultraviolet-B) light, which is called a “broad-spectrum” sunscreen.
Take into account several factors while choosing a sunscreen cream. If your skin is keen on acne, go for an oil-free sunscreen, while those with sensitive skin are advised to pick a separate sunscreen for the body and another one for the face. NEVER go out in the sun without wearing sunscreen!
The next step to a perfect skin in summer is to use a great amount of moisturizer. This provides the necessary hydration to your skin and struggles against clogged pores. Moreover, sun rays result in premature wrinkles and aging and water loss leads to dull and dehydrated looking skin. So a moisturizer comes to prevent your skin from all these unwanted skin problems. If you have oily skin, pick an oil-free moisturizer.
Body Lotion and After Sun Body Cream
To get fresh-looking skin, it’s always recommended to use some body lotions. Non-greasy lotions with vitamin E and antioxidants are the best for hot summer months. And all those who want to get radiant skin and a long-lasting tan are advised to apply after sun body cream, which also moisturizes the skin.
The sun, heat, humidity, sea salt and chlorine are the worst enemies of your hair, as they cause hair damage, dryness, split ends, brightliness and other unpleasant factors. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to apply some hair lotion to damp hair or use some UV protectant hair spray prior to swimming in the sea, as this will protect your hair from the sea salt and all the other factors. Moreover, try to limit the use of chemicals and styling tools during hot summer months. Instead go for natural, messy waves, which are also very sexy. It’s also good to use a conditioner with sunscreen before going out. In summer, change your hair care routine and replace all your shampoos, hair masks and conditioners containing alcohol or formaldehyde with more natural ones.
Lip Balm and Eye Cream
Lips and the skin around the eyes are the most sensitive and certainly need special treatment during the summer season. Lip balms with at least 15 SPF and eye creams with SPF 15 and vitamin C are the most important summer beauty essentials. You can also treat your lips with shea butter and vitamin E for the maximum effect.
Hand and Feet Cream
Like in the cold weather, you should frequently nourish and refresh your hands and feet with creams in summer too. It’s advised to apply a good sunscreen and anti-aging medication to the feet for the best results.
Sunglasses and a Hat
Sunglasses are a must for the eyes, as they not only protect them from harmful UV rays, but also reduce the wrinkling factor. It’s hard to open the eyes, when the sun is shining brightly and reflecting in the water, that’s why sunglasses will make you squint less in the sun. It’s recommended to pick sunglasses that are labeled as “UV 400”.
And of course, it’s just a crime to hit the beach without a hat. Hats aren’t just simple accessories that complete a beach outfit, but they also protect your head, hair, facial skin and eyes from the heat.
Bikini, Flip-Flops, Cover-up, Accessories, Ziploc Bags and Umbrella
To look hot on the beach, make sure to get a sexy bikini that flatters your figure ideally. And of course, for the maximum impact you should finish off your look with matching accessories, lovely flip-flops and a cute cover-up such as a mini dress, tunics or a simple men shirt. To make sure all these things don’t get scattered all around, fetch a ziplog bag with you. Also take an umbrella with you to create the ideal shade and reduce the chance of sunstroke.
Remember you are going to the beach to relax and not to a cool party or a special evening out to wear a full face of makeup. Actually, a no-makeup look is the ideal one, but if you have some skin imperfection to be concealed or just don’t feel confident without makeup, go for the basic products only. A tinted moisturizer, a lip balm, a water-resistant mascara are the best products to be considered. Also take some bloating papers with you to make sure your makeup stays flawless throughout the day.
Headphones, Magazine/Novel and Snacks
In order not to get bored at the beach, you can take some entertainment pieces with you, such as headphones, a magazine or a book. And to curb your hunger and thirst, make sure to have a few snacks and a bottle of water at hand.
Last but not least, study your skin type to know what works best for your skin. Besides carrying all the beach essentials with you, make sure to sunbathe safely and gradually, and try to stay out of the sun while it’s at its peak, from 10 am to 16 pm.
