How To Do Glam Rock Party Makeup
Glam rock makeup is one of the most important components of this style, derived from the 1970’s music. The representatives of this style love going to extremes: they even love going out bare-based or they rock incredibly bright and provocative makeup looks, featuring deep-dark smokey eyes and bright lips. Sometimes glam rockers also love playing with glitz and glitter too, but generally, their preferred eye makeup tones are in darker hues, mainly consisting of black, gray or brown tones, while the lips can be painted in burgundy, red or any other sassy bold tones. The facial skin is mainly kept as translucent and nude as possible, ditching any bronzing or too much blushing effects. This serves as a perfect background for the future bright and contrasting makeup tones, used for the eyes and the lips. Also keep in mind that black eye pencil and eyeliner are mostly a must for glam rock makeup looks, while for the perfect lip makeup, make sure to use a lip liner according to your lipstick shade. Creating ombre lips effect is also a cool idea!
Passing to our glam rock party makeup tutorial, we want to mention the makeup products and tools used for creating this look!
• Makeup base, foundation, concealer
• Eyebrow kit
• Eyeshadows in browns tones, glitter and black
• Black eyeliner
• Black mascara
• False eyelashes
• Burgundy lip pencil and an orange-red lipstick
• Makeup brushes
As you have noticed, we decided to play with brown tones in the case of our glam rock makeup look, which will look maximum sophisticated and harmonious with the bright lips. So the steps of the glam rock party makeup tutorial go as follows!
Step 1: Create the perfect nude base for your face, applying a makeup base and then a foundation close to the natural tone of your skin. Camouflage problem areas using concealer and add a light touch of blush to the cheeks.
Step 2: Get the perfect eyebrows by filling them in, using the most matching brow kit for your natural brow color.
Step 3: Prime your eyelids. Start your eye makeup by applying a light golden glittery tone to the inner corner of the eyes (Sin from the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette). Now, apply a coppery brown eyeshadow all over the lid (Sidecar from the same palette). For a shimmery look, we have also applied a makeup setting spray on the brush (MAC Fix Plus).
Step 4: Apply a brown eyeshadow to the outer part of your lid (Hustle from the same palette) and create a wing to elongate the eye. Step 5: Next, apply a warm brown tone to the crease (Buck from the same palette) and blend it evenly with a lighter brown tone (Naked from the same palette). Bring the colors up to the nose. To create the illusion of a fake crease, apply a dark brown line to that part (Dark Horse from the same palette).
Step 6: With a black eyeshadow line the upper and lower lash lines and create a soft wing (Creep from the same palette). Above the black eyeshadow on your upper lid, apply black eyeliner.
Step 7: Apply a few coats of black mascara and opt for false eyelashes for a more dramatic look.
Step 8: Coming to the lip makeup, we first apply a burgundy lip pencil, leaving the center of the lips clean. Now, to the center apply an orange-red lipstick, which will create a beautiful ombre effect.
So your super-gorgeous glam rock makeup is ready to make you the rock queen of the party! It’s high time to get the party started now!
