When she is not posing for another memorable advertisement campaign, such as for Kenzo, Abbey Lee Kershaw keeps herself busy creating something unique, whether it means playing an instrument or memorizing a script. The Australian supermodel is, in fact, also an actress, drummer and, as the recent news suggests, a shoe designer. Vogue UK recently broke the news reporting that Abbey Lee Kershaw is about to team up with Italian sneaker giant Superga for the fall/winter 2016 season and, despite the details seem to be top-secret, everybody is already going crazy about it.
Given the fact that Superga’s latest collaboration was with model Binx Walton, who gave the label some cool mannish vibes, we could expect Kershaw to do the same (to be able to buy Walton’s creations you have to wait just a few weeks more: the collection will launch on February 8th). Superga may, in fact, give carte blanche to the Australian model, to the pleasure of those who are effortlessly smitten by her alternative street-style look. Often spotted with crazy hairstyles and a lot of piercings and tattoos, Abbey Lee Kershaw does not incarnate the conventional super model type, and her unique attitude definitely makes her one of the most interesting personalities of the fashion industry.
To make us at least ease the pain a little bit for not being able to buy any pair of her designed shoes until the fall season, Superga made her the face of the brand for the upcoming spring/summer 2016 season, the campaign images of which are due to be released in March 2016. Such an announcement is another big reward for Lee, whose latest twelve months have been pretty intense.
Before returning to her roots, a.k.a. modeling, Lee Kershaw took her time to prove her acting skills, which made her play in an astonishing number of roles, including that in the 10-Oscar nominee Mad Max: Fury Road. While keeping on shooting campaigns, this will probably be the year when Kershaw finally makes it big in Hollywood, as she has three more films scheduled for 2016, namely: The Neon Demon, Gods of Egypt and Caprice III.
Superga’s latest months (well, actually years) have been a blast too, since the label let some of the world’s most acclaimed it-girls go on board. It all started off with Alexa Chung in 2012, and since then Superga’s brand ambassadors have been Rita Ora, Suki Waterhouse and, Binx Walton, who helped the brand gain consensus especially in North America. Now that Abbey Lee Kershaw is on board too, we really are about to see incredible creations!
