Are Adriana Lima And Alessandra Ambrosio Retiring?

There is a rumor floating about and it is making our skin crawl. We have been collecting Victoria’s Secret photos and lookbooks, staring at incredible shows and dreaming of those wonderful Angels… why you ask? It appears that Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio might be retiring! We want to scream out at the injustice of it all for these two are what make Victoria’s Secret so very special. They have been part of the company’s model line-up for over a decade and they are loved by all who is even a modicum of a fan of the lingerie and swimsuit brand.

Adriana Lima And Alessandra Ambrosio Retiring Rumours

They seem to be fading into the background though, of late especially, missing from the swim shoots in St. Barths and other places as well. While Victoria’s Secret has not confirmed this rumor, and that is all that it is at the moment, it seems quite plausible that the ladies who walked out onto stage last year wearing a few carats of precious jewels will be going home to their families and putting aside their modeling careers.

Why on earth would anyone say such things? Well, there seems to be evidence pointing towards this eventual resignation. The shoot in of itself is very telling because the brand has used it in the past to show the changes in Angle ranks, including the climbs up the ladder, along with those who have left Victoria’s Secret and shocked us all. Last year’s featured ladies generally later all became Angels, while Karlie Kloss, who was not in the shoot, later revealed that she would be leaving this tenure. This year, we have a few Angels missing, including our darling Lima and Ambrosio, along with Jac Jagaciak and Kate Grigorieva. On the other hand, Vita Sidorkina, who was not an Angel is taking part so we can expect a promotion there.

Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio both have walked 16 shows to date for Victoria’s Secret. While the former has stated that she would rather keep modelling until her body cannot do it anymore, the latter has no qualms with giving up her wings. Both are Mother Angels and have little ones at home. Both are Brazilian, with both aged 34, Lima having been spokesperson for Maybelline from 2003 to 2009, and Ambrosio having been chosen as the first supermodel for the Victoria’s Secret “Pink” line. While Ambrosio is 1.77 meters in height, Lima tops that at 1.78.

We have loved them for such a long time at this point, it would be impossible to watch the shows without having them make an appearance at one point. We simply cannot imagine the Angels without these ladies who have such seniority there. But with two children each, the gorgeous gals just might really need to take the time off in order to expand on their careers. There is only so much time that one can model for and there must come a time when everyone moves on to something bigger and better. While we hope against hope that they do not end up leaving, we are ready for the worst and wish them both the very best.
