One of the most beautiful Victoria’s Secret Angels, Candice Swanepoel graces the cover of British GQ May 2012, posing seductively in alluring lingerie pieces for photographer Terry Richardson. The South African beauty always dazzles with every appearance and makes jaws drop with her flawless skin and perfectly proportioned body. In the interview with the magazine, the bombshell dishes on her home town, her secret to the successful career and being teased at school for her looks.
Before she was discovered by a model scout at the age of 15 and was asked to move from her home town, Candice recalls that she was born and grew up in a lovely environment. She told GQ UK that: “It was such a pure, beautiful way to grow up. I used to wear overalls. And big boots, and poke cow poo, and helped the cows give birth. It was a really amazing playground.”
Now she is one of the most beautiful and sexiest women in the world, walks for the world-famous Victoria’s Secret show and is one of the highest paid models in the industry. However, things weren’t this dreamy, as at her teenage years Candice was teased at school for her physical appearance. As the hottie reveals she got her revenge now: “A year before I got scouted [Candice was discovered aged 15 at a flea market in 2003], I would watch a lot of Fashion TV. At school I got teased because I was so thin and awkward-looking. But the girls on TV looked similar to me. I would say to my mom, the girls at school are teasing me, but I look like those girls on TV. A year later, someone took me to an agency and that’s it. Revenge is always… [Laughs] I know it sounds terrible, but it does feel good to show those people.”
Although she has a fantastic career now, the road to where she is now wasn’t so smooth. Talking about her secret to the success, Candice states that she just had to work, work and again work. “I put all my eggs in one basket when I left South Africa. I put my head down and worked my a%$ off. And look where it got me.”
