The Cannes amfAR Gala is all about raising awareness about the importance for HIV/AIDS research, acting as a rather successful fundraiser. This is Cinema Against Aids 22, an event produced by AAB productions/Andy Boose, one, which is known to be the most coveted ticket in town during the Cannes International Film Festival. In 2015, we returned to the fabled Hotel du Cap for the 22nd annual Cinema Against AIDS gala, wherein up until this year, $140 million had been raised for amFAR’s life-saving research programs. This has been a major push in keeping the fight against the disease alive in media coverage, slam in the center of the spotlight. The star-studded red carpet for the Cannes 2015 amfAR Gala was not abuzz not just about the battle against a life-threatening disease but also about the simple goodness of fashion. Celebrities always manage to steal the attention it seems, which is why the news outlets currently bring up Sarah Ferguson’s slimmer figure, the dresses worn by Rita Ora and Paris Hilton (we thought she had hidden in the shadows of late, nice to see her peeking out again), while the celebrations also centered around calling the gala a Cleavage Convention. Of course, there was a lot of skin showing overall, as has been the trend for the past few months especially, but we have to agree that some of these looks were positively divine!
Here are 10 of the best dressed celebrities on the red carpet at the Cannes 2015 amfAR Gala. We know that they’ve been rocking the boat beautifully with their impeccably stylish ensembles.
The incredible beauty Kendall Jenner was getting her groove on last night and partying it up like no tomorrow. She appeared at the gala wearing a 2-piece set from Calvin Klein Collection that looked more like a single piece dress with an open midriff. She opted for a deep mauve color on her outfit, her peek-a-boo neckline rather alluring, while the strappy midriff section had us staring for hours at the statuesque model. Tousled locks and nude lips finished up the look nicely. The jewels she wore to the gala were none other than Chopard.
The darling former Desperate Housewives star was a rather beautiful figure on stage as she excitedly took the microphone after winning her bid on an Andy Warhol painting. The mint green lace up princess style frock by Geoges Hobeika Couture was stunning to say the least, the plunging neckline ending with a bow, the pretty skirt falling to the floor in a graceful sweet and her hair pulled into a tousled updo.
Perhaps the most revealing gown of the night was that of the incredible Gigi Hadid, with her white long sleeve piece that had a rather high slit up the side of the leg, but it was the barely covering that chest of her that threatened to allow everything to spill over. It was certainly hard to keep one’s gaze averted from a porn goddess style outfit by Tom Ford that the gorgeous model had donned on. Add Vita Fede jewellery and Aquazurra shoes to the mix and we have a stunning ensemble that made her the belle of the ball.
Ok, she was more like the worst dressed on the scene, but there was just something about that feathery peacock look that appealed to our senses greatly. It looks like some form of designer Halloween costume really, with the colorful puffed up feathery tutu skirt, the see-through top and the random lining of floral ruffles. Diane Kruger was wearing Chanel through and through, down to her delicate jewellery by Chanel Fine Jewellery.
If anyone looked like royalty, it was Chanel Iman with her gorgeous and quite revealing Zuhair Murad gown, the sleeves long and the neckline plunging low to her abdomen. The full skirts are certainly one to enjoy with the white and nude combinations taking her fashion sense to new heights. She was as trendy last night as they come. Then again, who would not be wearing Zuhair Murad.
Dressed in a gorgeous mermaid like Atelier Versace dress, Irina Shayk looked as much the exotic princess as we expected. Add Harry Winston jewels to her wrist and ears, and you have a spectacular style being displayed. That dress alone is of translucent fabric, showing off just enough while still somehow seeming to keep the body under swirling ocean waves, a mystery on a magical island.
The lovely red lipped blonde haired Sienna Miller was as stunning as always, wearing her long silver futuristic meets modern look from the Ralph Lauren Collection. It was a perfect match for her personality and her style, impeccably stylish with her hair worn up like that, her black and white clutch handbag held in hand and the mermaid body flowing in a fluid fashion over her limbs. It is a spectacular look.
Victoria’s Secret Angel or no, Adriana Lima is possibly one of the hottest female models currently in the fashion industry. She has been drawing attention with her revealing ensembles that somehow always have a more tasteful edge. The 33-year-old looked way younger than her age as she sashayed into the amDAR 22nd Cinema Against Aids Gala on Thursday evening. Lean and slender, she stole the limelight surely as she wore a daring thigh high slit gown, flashing a lot more than she might have wanted initially. The Brazilian beauty wore the sizzling cut out number with a plunging neckline and cinched in waist, highlighting her best features all around. Smoky eyes and strappy shoes completed her delectable look as she traipsed about in her Alexandre Vauthier lust inspiring dress.
Gorgeous blue was worn by Anja Rubik as she paraded about in a Dsquared2 dress, showing off her Chopard jewels. We are very much intrigued by the sheer number of A-list stars showing off their Chopard pieces really. The strapless dress had a high waist and a rather plastic feel to it, though it looked rather lovely on Anja herself. There are few models who would be able to look this good with such a dress, so we have to applaud her for her sass and risk-taking.
The gorgeous 24-year-old Jourdan Dunn looked absolutely incredible in a deep, dusky blue Vera Wang gown, with wraparound detailing and a keyhole opening in the center of the chest. The neckline plunged low, the waist was cinched with a darker blue strip, while the dress fell freely after hugging the body down to the tops of the knees. It was a spectacular open back look. The jewels worn were Chopard, while the clutch was none other than by Christian Louboutin.
