Gisele Bundchen’s Book Worth $700 Sold Out!

Would you ever buy a book worth $700? That’s what Brazilian supermodel and actress Gisele Bundchen hoped you’d do at the end of September, when her fans learnt that a self-titled coffee-table book about the model was about to be released. Given the fact that $700 is quite a lot of money to spend on a book, a few eyebrows raised when Gisele Bundchen launched her book. However, time proved them wrong.

Gisele Bundchen's Book Worth $700 Sold Out!

Published by the German publishing company Taschen, which is well known for its artistic tomes, Gisele’s 536-page book celebrates Bundchen’s 20th anniversary of her career, featuring more than 300 photographs and tributes from Bundchen’s friends and colleagues in the fashion industry, as well as countless high-fashion campaigns, where the supermodel has starred. On the book cover one of Gisele Bundchen’s most notorious portraits is published, captured by one of the most talented contemporary photographers – Irvin Penn.

So, why did they set such an expensive price tag? It is because there are only 1000 copies available of the book, and all the proceeds will go towards a charity that according to some sources is close to Gisele’s heart. Gisele has been a famous philanthropist, having worked close with UNICEF and on certain climate change advocacy projects (she has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme).

Gisele Bundhcen’s $700 book, titled ‘Gisele’ and personally curated by the 35-year-old model herself, actually sold out on Thursday (just a day before the official book’s launch date), thanks to Bundchen’s fans who diligently pre-ordered it online. The model announced the good news on her Instagram account, sharing her immense gratitude: “Gratitude for all the love I received from everyone at the launch of my book today. Thank you for being there for me at this very special moment. #giselesbook”

Bundchen, who retired from the runways back in April, has been named the world’s highest-paid model for 9 years in a row. She thus made such a choice after 20 years in the industry, stating that it was her body that told her to step away from the runways.

“I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business. #firstrunway #14yearsold.”

If you lost the opportunity to purchase Gisele’s book, do not worry: Taschen is thinking about reduplicating their efforts publishing another edition of the ‘Gisele’ book, due for release next year.
Married to American football player Tom Brady, with whom she has two children – Benjamin and Vivien, Gisele Bundchen is definitely a living piece of art now.
