Hilary Swank Launches a Luxury Activewear Line

Should we officially rename October and November as the months of fashion debuts and collaborations accordingly? Hilary Swank has joined the never-ending list of actresses, models and personalities, who already have or are about to launch their own clothing line, and in doing so she specifically focused on two different things: luxury and activewear.

Hilary Swank Launching Activewear Line

Hilary Swank’s debuting luxury activewear line, entitled by the Academy Award-winning actress as Mission Statement (nomen est omen), just came by surprise, as only a few expected Swank to be interested in creating a fashion line.

When asked by W Magazine about the reasons behind the launch of Mission Statement, Hilary Swank declared she wholeheartedly wanted to create something that could easily transition from her (and any other woman’s) workout to the rest of the day, whether one spends it at work or at university.

“So I thought the name of the brand should be Mission Statement because I want to encourage women to take an hour for themselves out of our 24 hour day to work towards their full potential. I wasn’t alone in wanting to have clothing that naturally transitioned from my workouts into my day. I think it’s important for the modern woman to have clothes that are multi-faceted and functional. Women need the ability to go from exercising straight to meetings, dropping the kids at school, or running errands. I couldn’t find something for that which didn’t look like actual workout clothes—so I designed it,” she stated, denoting what appears to be a lack in the abounding amount of activewear lines many companies, retailers and labels have been releasing throughout the past few years.

“No one was really hitting the mark because it still looked like people were in their workout clothes,” continued Swank reinforcing her reasons.

So, in what ways is Hilary Swank’s Mission Statement activewear line different?

With prices ranging from $115 to $900, Mission Statement combines comfort with high fashion details and materials, which definitely make it easier to change your style according to the shoes you are wearing. Most of Mission Statement’s leggings, for example, feature edgy leather appliqués that translate one of activewear’s signature staples to something to easily show off with a pair of high heels during a night out with friends.

“Strategically placed leather panels and a cropped length elongate legs, while a chic bow adds femininity. Let your clothes work for you,” was captivatingly captioned on Mission Statement’s Instagram account to describe the pants.

Other signature staples such as the tank tops, got translated by Swank to their highest allure, being refined with a super soft, elegant cashmere material that got utilized to refinish the long-sleeved shirts as well.

The outerwear jackets got, instead, filtered through a more cosmopolitan, conceptual lens, and feature fancy turtlenecks and asymmetrical zip lines.

Of course, being a luxury activewear line made while keeping women’s busy needs in mind, all of the Mission Statement staples are high quality yet low maintenance, meaning that they are machine-washable. “I tested everything in my own washing machine,” confirmed Swank.

All of Mission Statement’s garments are available on missionstatement.com from today on.
