Met Gala 2015 Red Carpet Fashion

Formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, the Met Gala is an annual fundraiser for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It was begun in 1946 and the exhibition itself runs for a few months normally. The Gala attracts some of the top celebrities in the United States especially, if not from around the world, raising exuberant amounts of money year after year. Those attending the gala are normally from the arts, fashion, film and music industries, as well as those from high society. For the fashion industry, this is the premier red carpet event. Vogue’s Anna Wintour has been the chair of the event since 1995 and overseas both the benefit committee and the guest list, bringing all the top names to town. Between 650 and 700 people generally attend the gala, with those not on the guest list having to pay a whopping $25,000 to attend. Every year has a different theme as well, the one for Met Gala 2015 being China: Through the Looking Glass. There were over 200 approved photographers, reporters and media participants filming the event to use in an upcoming documentary, while all others at the party were forbidden from the use of social media.

The gala not only brings to New York City the best all the different arts industries have to offer, but also makes it the perfect place to scope out the fashions and the trends the stars are showing off. Some of these lovely ladies really amped up the wow factor, throwing us for a loop and definitely turning heads along the way. Between Kim Kardashian and Rihanna, Beyoncé and Cher, we are sure we have seen the heavens descent in a star stuffed display. Some of the best and the worst dresses around appeared on the red carpet and we are happily sifting through the pictures now that the party’s over and even the naughty kids like Kendall Jenner who took bathroom selfies are back to their typical lives. All the while, we simply cannot get over how awesome some of these women looked! Check out the best dressed at Met Gala 2015, as well as the most interesting and weirdest looks the red carpet saw yesterday night!

Jennifer Lopez at Met Gala 2015

There is nothing as sexy as seeing the infamous J. Lo appear on the red carpet in a Versace dress that really shows off her curves, while the bombshell continues to test the limits of fashion. Somehow she can show off everything but still remain covered enough to be considered decent. Her Atelier Versace dress is certainly fitting with the Chinese theme, a red dragon coiling about her body in a rather possessive fashion.

Rihanna at Met Gala 2015

If there is anyone who looked like a princess from the royal Chinese court, it was certainly Rihanna, We like to think of her as an honorary guest in the court of the Ming Dynasty, looking regal and sweet, refined yet lovable. Her gorgeous yellow dress by Guo Pei was beyond spectacular. It was a work of art that deserves to be placed on display. Images of Rihanna are sure to find their way into many a home and be framed as that which shows off a noblewoman of grand stature. That is what that fur trimmed exceptionally long trained ball gown does to an individual powerless against its allure.

Diane Kruger at Met Gala 2015

We had to really admire the look Diane Kruger rocked on the red carpet last night. She was beyond stunning with her Chanel Couture outfit, the white lace on the legs encasing her limbs beautifully, while the strapless tweed top region in the gentle hues was enough to have us salivating over its chic and luxurious look. The red heart shaped handbag made for the perfect finishing touch alongside the gauzy crepe hanging down one side. The T-bar sandals underneath did much to accentuate the beauty of the outfit itself.

Sarah Jessica Parker at Met Gala 2015

Costume parties are totally Sarah Jessica Parker’s thing, it appears, as she wore a Philip Treacy headpiece with her H&M dress as a thoughtful homage to the evening’s sensitive theme. There was something somewhat majestic about the look, even if it appears out of whack at first sight. The single shoulder black with white and a few soft touches of color dress was really suited to Parker’s style. We can so see this worn in an episode of Sex and the City as well!

Poppy Delevingne at Met Gala 2015

While Cara is definitely the more popular of the two, Poppy Delevingne is certainly just as stunning in most events, if not more so. She looked incredible in her flower bearing Marchesa dress, poppies worn on her neckline and allowing the full skirt to flow behind and around her. Poppy’s look was magnificent and her top knot combined with the focus on the eyes when it comes to makeup ensured that all gazes would be on the dress itself.

Kendall Jenner at Met Gala 2015

Kendall Jenner is the face of the Calvin Klein brand now it seems, which made it the perfect choice to wear the label’s moss green dress with the shimmering body and halter top design. Side boobs were clearly seen and the lacing on the side of the dress reminded us of an olden meets modern trend. We can certainly fall in love with this look, her hair look and worked on, her makeup minimal and thoroughly flattering.

Georgia May Jagger at Met Gala 2015

Considering the Chinese theme with the overall Asian effect, that wrap dress by Gucci worn by Georgia May Jagger was truly awe-inspiring. It was in a lovely lilac with gorgeous floral patterning and the perfect harmony of colors throughout. Her retro hair and gentle touch of makeup only had our eyes dropping to the silky dress with the plunging neckline and the pom-pom finished lace-up shoes. Alongside Rihanna, Jagger’s dress did the most justice for the theme of the exhibition and gala event.

Amanda Seyfried at Met Gala 2015

Pretty Amanda Seyfried looks perfectly divine in white! The halter top, thoroughly ruffled and embellished dress by Riccardo Tisci from the Givenchy Haute Couture line-up was certainly one of a kind and one we totally expected Seyfried to be wearing on the red carpet, that’s how well it suits her complexion. The slit up the center allows for a show of legs, while the frothy overall look makes it so that the lady wearing the dress feels herself to be a goddess.

Jennifer Lawrence at Met Gala 2015

Our lovely Jennifer Lawrence had things toned down and quite simple really with her lovely Dior Couture dress that was a combination gown with the trending high waist and crop too set look. Her floral bust region was quite attractive with the red and the white and the yellow along with the orange contrasting against the black background. The sleek black sheath continued to the ground. Her hair was piled high on top of her head while her necklace, ring, and bracelet shimmered under the light. We have to saw, our pretty lady has one smouldering hot body.

Kim Kardashian at Met Gala 2015

Showing off skin has become Kim Kardashian’s favourite pastime, but we must admit that the Roberto Cavalli gown that she wore to the Met Gala was certainly worthy of the Heavens itself! With a long and feathery train, one could almost forgive the partial nudity apparent through the see-through garment that was all lace embroidery and incredibly gorgeous designs. Long sleeves a silhouette that really accentuated every single curve on her body and the feel of some sort of Armenian goddess in the air, Kim really stood out from within the crowd, her hubby always close beside her. We have to admit, they really do look good together.

Sienna Miller at Met Gala 2015

Sienna Miller isn’t the first star to take on the trousers and blazer look but she certainly was one of the most unique, ever! We are talking a trouser suit by Thakoon in a shimmering red, the color of rubies, a sash in black with tassels hanging from her waist and matching her earrings, while that Rauwolf bag was simply to die for. An open chest and a red and black combination meant that Sienna Miller was looking incredibly gorgeous all night long.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at Met Gala 2015

When we noticed those incredibly beautiful Atelier Versace dresses earlier in the year, we were waiting impatiently to see who would be wearing these amazing pieces on the red carpet. It appears as if Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is our woman, appearing in a number that sported lots of curving pieces, an impossibly high slit up the leg, and a single strap wrapping itself around the shoulder and neck. With her hair slicked and tied back from a side swept design, her makeup done up to the tee, this was one star who managed to make the angels jealous of her allure.

Naomi Campbell at Met Gala 2015

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was certainly one of the belles of the ball with her majorly dipping neckline, moss green sequined Burberry Prorsum gown with the feathers ends and the see-through material in some places. She looked interesting to say the least, though perhaps not among the best dressed at Met Gala 2015. She does, however, look like a mermaid and her berry lips with the cat eyes and fringes straight hair give her the feel of an exotic princess come to New York.

Beyoncé at Met Gala 2015

She was practically in the nude. Then again, nearly the whole of the year’s fashion weeks have featured extremely translucent garments that are beauties to behold but we certainly could not have imagined on an individual off the runway. It appears the red carpet is as good a runway show as any, meaning that Beyoncé’s daring gown with its gorgeous intricacies by Stella McCartney fit right in with the rest of the pieces blowing everyone’s minds away. Only the most essential parts of the body were covered by intricate embroidery, but the rest of the chest and limbs were completely visible under the high neck long sleeve full-fledged guipure gown. Gorgeous!
