Shout out to those who predicted a Rita Ora standalone fashion line: the musician, model, actress, and Tezenis brand ambassador has officially revealed she is planning to launch her own fashion line in 2017, meaning that we should probably get ready for a few sneak peek photos in the months to come.
It is not, however, her first time as a fashion designer, as Rita Ora has been collaborating with Adidas for a few seasons now. As reported by WWD, the singer-turned-designer celebrated her 15th and final capsule collection with the sportswear brand at the Ivy Chelsea Garden in London a few days ago, ending de facto her three-year-long successful partnership with the brand.
Those who found Rita Ora’s creativity in tune with their own fashion expression, however, should not despair, as Rita Ora is literally shutting one door and opening another.
“I’ve done so much for this brand, and we’ve done so much together, that we couldn’t just leave it like that,” said Ora, who is also the new host of ‘America’s Next Top Model.’
“It’s the end of my designing journey with Adidas as a brand, but it’s the beginning of something else, the beginning of our new relationship. I’ve been working with Adidas for three years, and I have learned a lot about them and about branding, and the collaboration has led me to great ventures coming in the New Year,” Rita Ora humbly told WWD, explaining how meaningful her experience with Adidas was.
As if things weren’t interesting enough, the British singer and actress has also revealed she has been actually working on her standalone fashion line for a while now, meaning that it might already be conceptualized and ready to be tested.
“This collaboration has expanded my personal brand. It’s stretched my name out into countries I never even knew I could be in so, you know, so I’m forever grateful for that,” she continued. “We’ve already been working on my new line, doing bits over the last few years, but it takes a few months to build it up properly, probably about another year.”
It might take, however, a while until she shows off some of her creations, or even reveals something more about her project, as Rita Ora is currently busy working on her very first leading role in a film, namely “Wonderwell”.
With this breaking news hitting the headlines on most magazines, it is really time to start thinking about how much the fashion industry has changed in the recent few years, especially with all these collaborations between it-girls and the main international labels.
Sportswear labels, such as Adidas and Puma, have become actual fashion launching pads for many singer-turned-designers, such as Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Rihanna and now Rita Ora, who is surely going to skillfully put into practice all the things she has learnt throughout these three years with Adidas.
