Every fashioniser dreams of acquiring the same piece his or her icon wears, and if it’s the exact one she has already worn once, the price for that item becomes pretty higher. Uber-successful fashion designer, mother and style icon Victoria Beckham has listed more than 600 items from her personal wardrobe for sale on The Outnet, giving her fans a chance to get her iconic designer pieces, at the same time borrowing a piece of her personal style. The good side of this auction is that the proceedings from the sale will go to the fund of the famous charity program, Mothers2mothers. The auction of Victoria Beckham’s wardrobe will take place from August 20 to 25, 2014, however, chances are pretty high that the pieces won’t last that long!
Victoria herself took the exciting news to her social accounts, making her fans look forward to the date to be able to acquire her gorgeous designer pieces while supporting mothers with HIV. Talking about the choice of the items that will go for sale, Victoria noted: “I laughed a lot when we were going through my wardrobe as the pieces hold so many happy memories for me, David and the children. A lot of the clothes have been specially designed for me by the most talented designers and I’ve loved wearing them, however I now feel it’s someone else’s turn to enjoy them. We approached The Outnet as they have an incredible global reputation and are the perfect partner for us to build awareness and raise as much money as possible for Mothers2mothers.”
As it is cited on The Outnet, all the items chosen have been valued with the support of Christie’s and they have been chosen based on their history and value to raise as much funds as possible from the sale. In addition, there will be a special “Going, Going, Gone” sale, when 10 special items from Victoria’s wardrobe will go for sale.
Talking about her visit to the charity’s base in Africa, Victoria said: “In February this year I visited South Africa for a project that I was working on with Anna Wintour. It was on that trip that I met Mitch Besser, founder of mothers2mothers, and the Mentor Mothers, who are the most remarkable women I have ever met. I came back from South Africa and thought, what can I do to help? I started going through my closet and found so many great pieces that I’ve worn and thought, maybe I can raise money by auctioning these off. Working with THE OUTNET has been so exciting for me – I just want to do whatever I can do.”
Mothers2mothers is a charity program that helps HIV-positive mothers to stay healthy and to protect their babies from the possible HIV infection. Giving them the right education and support, they take care that no baby is ever bron with HIV and no mother dies from AIDS.
