The fifth day of this year’s Paris Fashion Week turned out to be rather “international”. First we had an utterly gorgeous collection by Japanese brand Tsumori Chisato, Dutch fashion house Viktor & Rolf presented his new spring/summer 2015 collection just some hours ago and now it is time for Stockholm-based Swedish brand Acne Studios to take the catwalk with the beautiful and colorful Acne Studios spring/summer 2015 collection. The brand’s collections are mainly designed for representatives of progressive youth, who like to be unique and different. Staying true to their roots, that is to minimalistic Swedish culture, Acne designs effortless and simple clothing pieces, which are easy to wear and combine.
For the Acne Studios spring/summer 2015 collection Jonny Johansson, the creative director of the brand had opted for strict, but rather colorful designs. The collection started with an introduction of a rather elegant black deep V-neck jacket with cropped sleeves combined with beige straight pants, a very interesting black dress resembling long suit jacket, an elegant Safari skin-revealing vest with matching pants in maize yellow, a black coatdress with massive pockets up on the front. The next stage of Acne show brought more and more colors, as well as prints and patterns. The prints were in forms of yellowish flowers and fruits on white, black and bluish green backgrounds and were used to design button-down belted dresses, collared shirts that were worn with undone buttons, hip-hugging high waisted pants, pencil skirts and so on.
Johansson, sensing what a beautiful pair red and beige make, had designed gorgeous high waisted shorts and combined them with a red tank top with interesting frontal cuts. Using the same bright red, he had also created a thin long-sleeved dress, which had been complemented with a brown leather belt. Shades of green had been used to present pants and matching long zip-up jackets made of sheer fabric, asymmetrical high neckline mini dresses, army green shorts and mini dresses with V-necklines.
The Acne Studios spring/summer 2015 collection was up for a surprising final. To design long jacket and mini dresses, Jonny Johansson had used…towel fabric! One of the dresses even resembled a towel wrapped around the bust. While this seemed like an interesting idea, it was also a daring one: not many women would be bold enough to sport a dress resembling a towel, don’t you think?
We can’t but talk about those must have accessories from the Acne Studios spring/summer 2015 collection. First we had those subtle neck scarves successfully balancing the outfits, then we had those super chic sunglasses and the coolest of them all: chain choker necklaces. Looks like the ‘90s trend is back in its metallic manifestation! The bags were mainly in forms of leather clutches and when paired with classic pieces, looked very elegant and easy on the eye.
Well, this was some new kind of Acne, wasn’t it? The simple and minimalistic forms of the brand seemed to be gone and more sophisticated Acne was presented to us. But whether this was the Acne we were used to or a new experiment by the brand’s designers, this was a collection we loved and a collection that will sure brighten up any woman’s wardrobe!
