Hearing about Alexander Wang, we always get thrilled to know what happens next, right? Here comes the brand new reason for us to do so. It goes without saying, that fashion fans and lovers absolutely loved Wang’s fall 2015 runway collection with all its black revolution, cool leather jackets and boots all waved with Marlin Manson style-touch. Now time has arrived for those goths and trendy zombies to revive in the new ad campaign of the brand. Of course, Wang wanted to stick to the same dark and edgy spirit he had created, for which he casted an amazing staff. The Alexander Wang fall 2015 ad campaign was lensed by prevocational photographer Steven Klein, styled by the British-born stylist Karl Templer, with the creative director being the chief executive of Box, Pascal Dangin. These guys did a great job releasing an ad perfectly keeping the rejoice of nightlife. But let us not forget about the heroes of their movie. They are the German top-model Anna Ewers, elf-meets-alien looking Molly Bair, coltish Binx Walton, Lexi Boling, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Sarah Brannon, Isabella Emmack, as well as the youthful singer Alice Glass and Japanese dance duo Ayabambi. The campaign was lensed at East of Hollywood Studios in Sunset Park Brooklyn. You can already find the ads, which are up now on Wang’s social media channels, and will soon be featured in the September issues of i-D and Interview and the fall issues of Love, CR Fashion Book and Self-Service.
Wang thinks the campaign is the final statement of his collection. Having pictures in the lookbook and other imagery for seeing the pieces he wants the campaign to indicate what was in his mind, his message. For that purpose, Wang considered his choice of acting cast quite thoroughly. He likes loyalty but he also seeks for new sources of inspiration. So we could predict that women, who he always gets inspired by, would be included in the cast. But he also found inspiration in new faces, such as Isabella, who would be perfect enhancement for the collection in the ad. To make the casting more eclectic Wang invited his most adored Alice Glass and AyaBambi. By the way, he had met the dance duo at Madonna’s party in Paris, where, as he confessed, he fell in love with them. The curious thing is that Wang chooses his muses not only by their appearance, but also by their attitude. “The attitude is very important; it probably even outweighs the girl’s look for me. Especially for this collection, though, which celebrates unconventional appearance, the attitude is crucial,” says the designer. This announcement makes a perfect opportunity for so many girls who worship Wang’s art. Wang also marvels the fact that all of the girls stand out individually quite bright but they make up a whole representative group for the collection. His aim was to combine the spirit of individual and the sense of collectivity. Seeing the somehow frightening and yet enchanting ad clip with the group of strong, alien-like awakened zombie beauties, we say he nailed it!
