Although, it’s a well-known fashion statement that less is more, it comes to be quite the opposite in the newest fall collection of Alice + Olivia showcased during New York Fashion Week. Titled “Fantasy Street Style”, the Alice + Olivia fall/winter 2013-2014 collection is all about fashion opulence, glamour and dark elegance, femininity and vintage allure that look so harmonious combined in one. This fall, the creative designer of the brand, Stacey Bendet, deiced to diverge away from the girlish and simple style describing the brand, instead opting for something more mature and sophisticated.
As Stacey describes the inspiration of the Alice + Olivia fall/winter 2013-2014 collection, it’s “fantasy street style, starting on the streets of Paris with girls in really cool daytime layered looks filled with the unexpected.” As a result, the collection is flooded with studs, brocade, sequins, ruffles, lace, fur, laser-cut leather, velvet, plaid, autumny florals and lots of quilting.
Despite the opulence of the outfits presented, nothing looked exaggerated and overworked in the Alice + Olivia fall/winter 2013-2014 collection. The overall color palette came in darker shades, including blacks, reds, cobalt blues, as well as metallic tones and whites. And when it comes to the patterns used, expect lots of enchanting floral prints, plaids and Victorian fashion characteristic golden embroidered prints.
Styling and layering played a great role at Alice + Olivia. Models wore romantic braided updos, berry lips and golden eye shadows, and sported leather biker jackets with après-ski sweaters and ruffled skirts, floral printed maxi skirts with cobalt blue turtleneck sweatshirts, shaggy fur coats with mini fur dresses and thigh-high mustard leather boots. The Alice + Olivia fall/winter 2013-2014 collection also included gorgeous cocktail dresses, shoes and bags, everything a woman needs to feel stylish and sexy throughout the rainy season!
