Another exciting collaboration has given birth to a super-stunning collection for the summer 2012 season. Paris-born Joseph Altuzarra, who is the latest prizewinner of the CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund, has teamed up with J.Crew for a limited edition seven-piece collection that is already available for purchase online starting April 19. The result? The ultra-voguish Altuzarra for J.Crew capsule collection rife with gorgeous pieces with French preppy style!
“J.Crew stands for that very American idea of prep, but I thought it would be cool to do something inspired by Bardot and Saint-Tropez. It’s very Jean Seberg. There’s the idea of Breton sweaters, denim skirts and what you would wear on the French Riviera,” the designer stated.
The amazing Altuzarra for J.Crew capsule collection brings forward a parade of chic pencil dresses in preppy gingham, tie-front shirts, nautical cashmere sweaters, long-sleeved tops, denim skirts, Breton sweaters and yacht-ready espadrilles featuring saturated shades such as red or apricot. “I thought about things my customer would want to buy, and wear with pieces of mine that she already had,” Joseph Altuzarra said.
The renowned designer also took the classic pencil skirt and gave it a French touch by turning towards a curved seam in the black and a cheeky asymmetrical kick pleat. “My skirts are always a longer length, but they hug the body just right so you feel the tailoring and a certain sensuality and confidence,” the New York-based rising star said.
The pieces in the Altuzarra for J.Crew capsule collection retail for the price tag between $85 and $345. If you liked something, hurry up to get it, as it’s a limited collection and won’t stay there for too long.
