Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina but raised in Melbourne, Andreja Pejic is one of the industry’s most inspiring (and coolest) models. Hence, we are not surprised to learn that Reformation tapped her to be the brand ambassador for the Reformation holiday 2016 collection, letting her channel every single look from what appears to be one of the label’s most eclectic lookbooks.
By adding Andreja Pejic to its #RefBabe family, Reformation is also helping the industry become more inclusive and diverse, as the notorious Aussie is one of the strongest LGBTQ advocates in the fashion industry, as well as one of the world’s most renowned transgender models. She has never missed a chance to speak about LGBTQ issues and to educate people about what being transgender means; we are glad Reformation is acknowledging it while also expanding its target audience.
“Our mission at Reformation is to create beautiful and stylish clothing that also happens to be eco-friendly. We are trying to break the stigma and prove that sustainable fashion can actually be cool and fashionable. We feel like Andreja embodies a similar message — she is breaking the stigma of what it means to be a top model,” Reformation’s founder Yael Aflalo told Yahoo.
As for the “eco-friendly stylish clothing” Reformation has in store for its holiday 2016 collection, the main motif behind the staples appears to be the harmonious mixture between the classics and the contemporary, refined by a common fil rouge made of coziness.
“At Reformation, we want our designs to make women feel beautiful and confident. With this collection, we took it one step further to not only make people feel sexy but also supercomfortable — think adjustable waists, loose fits, and stretchy fabrics. So you can have your pie and look hot too,” explained Aflalo.
With price tags that range from $168 to $248, this Reformation holiday 2016 collection features strong Seventies-inspired references, often revamped by ultra-polished sleek fabrics and leathery embellishments.
Most of the dresses, such as the Adeline Dress, feature plunging V-necklines and long, sinuous gowns, which will look just perfect at any New Year’s Eve party. The collection includes also more wearable on a daily basis staples, such as the omnipresent jumpsuits, cozy blazers and, of course, elegant shirts, which can turn out to be more casual if sported along with a pair of jeans.
A velvet short wrapped dress embodies a sort of tradition-meets-modernity too, yet in a more haute couture-esque, loungewear-inspired way.
As for the Reformation holiday 2016 lineup’s must-have staple, the little black dress with the feathery off-the-shoulder neckline is surely the most appealing, and we expect many will be wearing it all winter long. If in doubt, or unsure of what to wear during a specific holiday season’s special night, you can just follow Yael Aflalo’s piece of advice!
“When in doubt, slip dress. It’s easy, sexy, plus you get to feel like you’re wearing pajamas all night.”
