Who is Antonio Berardi’s ideal woman? According to the British designer of the Italian descent himself, Antonio Berardi woman is the one “who is aware of her sexuality, sensuality, and who appreciates the meticulous nature of what I do.” Being John Galliano’s assistant probably had a huge effect on the development of Berardi’s fashion style, but when he created his own fashion line back in 1994, it turned out to be rather unique and distinctive. Berardi’s favorite colors are black and white, and he loves to use all kinds of fabrics, but mostly silk, lace and the finest wool. We feel like only admiring outfits from Berardi’s collections is not enough, we also want to wear them. And after seeing the Antonio Berardi spring/summer 2015 collection show at London Fashion Week, we caught ourselves wondering which one of all the designs we would were. You know what the answer was, don’t you?
The Antonio Berardi spring/summer 2015 collection was sophisticated in a very feminine way. It was luxurious and lush, but it was also sensual, light, charming and gentle. The collection started with outfits in shimmery blue and we saw combinations of satin shorts with matching somewhat oversized jackets with notched necklines, satin pants with matching long sleeve shimmery blouses, asymmetrical dresses, off-the-shoulder dresses worn over blouses with very interesting puffy shoulders and so on. Very subtle dresses in the lightest shade of pink were what followed next. With open and closed shoulders, long and short flowing with satin layers, these dresses made us think of fairytales.
At the second part of the show the colors got brighter and more vibrant, the patterns – more sophisticated and refined. Satin dresses with floral prints were showcased and the central color during this part of the show was the raspberry red. The color looked utterly effective and feminine in combination with lupin pink: high waisted wide leg pants were combined with blouses topped with matching satin jackets, figure hugging pants with very interesting sleeveless blouses and so on. Bright orange adorned some of the dresses that followed and it looked fresh and chic when combined with red and white. To cut the long story short, the models “were on fire”, both figuratively and literally.
But wait! What about Berardi’s favorite colors? Nothing in black and white? No need to worry, there was black, in fact, lots of it: first we saw lush dresses with the most interesting of necklines, then there were black skirts adorned with golden and silver shimmer topped with an extravagant black coat, ruffled skirts and so on. Black was also combined with bright red, of which we saw striped pants with matching blouses, black tapered pants with free zipped jackets again in black and red and so on.
The last part of the show was remembered with black mini dresses with interesting cutouts and prints, matching pants and jackets in the same print, sheer blouses that put the accent on shoulders, pencil skirts with side slits and so on.
The Antonio Berardi spring/summer 2015 collection was harmonious, discreet and we are sure it will be a perfect fit into the wardrobe of any modern woman. The collection also proved once again, that when designing new outfits, Berardi prefers the fancy and the luxurious.
