Which designers are among your top 10 favourites? Chances are that Elie Saab, Reem Acra, and/or Zuhair Murad will make the list. After all, the Lebanese are well known for their impeccable flair and precision, along with their unfailing attention to detail and the latest trends. Lebanon is only one of the 22 countries expected to take part in the first ever Arab Fashion Week though, wherein we will find players such as Morocco, UAE and such others appearing in Dubai. We will be seeing women’s ready to wear pieces, as well as couture, alongside the men’s pieces, all part of the SS 2016 collection. It will be a special event, held for the first time ever and with the honorary president of the Italian Fashion Chamber, Mario Boselli, also made honorary president of the Arab Fashion Council. In his own words, “I’m happy to be engaged in this project aimed at creating jobs in the northern part of Africa: by setting up a textile, apparel and fashion industry. We can try to prevent people, the wars notwithstanding, from being forced to emigrate to seek work.” These are beautiful words in of themselves and we are looking forward to seeing more of the most incredible pieces from the Middle Eastern nations join in with the beauty and glamour of America and the European states.
The Arab Fashion Week will take place from October 30th to November 2nd in Dubai, featuring mainly Arab designers but also having invited international guests to take part. It is a Pret-a-Couture show, combining both styles and bringing the modern, the creative and the best in fashion development to the catwalk during those days. The aim of the event is to create a global platform wherein the best the Middle East has to offer is put out there for our delectable pleasure for that is exactly what we expect. The Arab Fashion Week is expected to be a prestigious event and to have a spectacular opening show by a renowned fashion legend, though that is kept a surprise for now, and end it with a luxurious red carpet ceremony in Arab style, meaning it will be lavish and all over astounding; it will be titled “The Diamond Night” and we can only guess that it will be sparkly and full of unending treasures for us to choose from. It is almost hilarious to see that the dress code for the event is “diamond dressed”- perhaps meaning that you should attend the gala dinner in the most shimmery of gowns you can get your hands on. Only 150 tickets are available and it is by invite only, making it one of the most exclusive celebrity hangouts in the world. There will be a red carpet followed by the dinner, a musical program and Fashion Award distributions. You can expect to find the Arab royal families in presence, as well as both royals and celebrities from around the world, all of whom will be treated to a charity auction on exclusive diamond masterpieces. What else would you expect from the Arab world? Only the best for their guests!
