Badgley Mischka Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week

Mark Badgley and James Mischka are two genius fashion designers, who know the body language of the woman and can dress her the way to look elegant and feminine for any occasion. Their brand new Badgley Mischka fall/winter 2015-2016 collection doesn’t go too far from the fashion house’s roots and brings a parade of breathtaking evening gowns and cocktail dresses inspired from Rita Hayworth and the matadors in the ‘Blood and Sand’ film of 1941. This theme was translated both into the beauty looks composed of retro bouffant hairstyles and nude makeup with black eyeliner, and the beautiful silhouettes with a distinctive Forties flair. Everything looked harmonious and just perfect, from the color palette and the details used to the amazing styling techniques applied.

We tend to believe that fall is just about bundling up in chunky knits and outerwear that hides our shapes and just helps us kill the cold. A single glance at the Badgley Mischka fall/winter 2015-2016 collection will completely change your viewpoint instantly. Although as always, glamorous evening-ready looks are the focus of the entire line, there are also warm and comfy daywear pieces and outerwear designs, which still bear a high dose of femininity and elegance, something which has gained a big army of devoted fans for the Badgley Mischka fashion house.

The tweed dresses and two-pieces cut at the knee length or a little above and available in khaki and cream tones are amazing staples to invest in for creating classy formal and office looks this fall. Equally bedazzling are the form-enhancing tweed coats and the red plaid dresses. On the other hand if you are looking for slightly laidback designs, you’re sure to love the red cape with checkered motifs on the front topping a head-to-toe black look, composed of a pair of elegant tailored pants and a see-through black turtleneck. The oversized gray mohair coat is modern and timeless here coming to complete the party-ready two-piece featuring glittery blue pants.

We always hold our breaths to see the flabbergasting evening gowns and dresses at Badgley Mishcka shows and although it’s really pleasant to see the brand evolve and focus on daytime looks as well, their party looks are definitely the best in the Badgley Mischka fall/winter 2015-2016 collection. Coming in a muted palette of deep blues, grays infused with blue touches, burgundies, blacks, gold and creams, these designs stand out with their intricate detailing, the creative cut-outs, the body-hugging silhouettes and the fine materials. A jacquard ground-skimming dress with side pockets and an embroidered bodice with a deep plunging neckline is a real dream, while the closing chiffon look with gilded embroidery seems to have been created for real goddesses.

In terms of accessorizing details, we see lots of black leather gloves used to enhance the femininity in the daytime looks, as well as little clutches and waist-enhancing belts making an appearance from time to time. Black lace tights or white options are good details to use to protect yourself from the cold outside and to inject interest to your looks.
