Mark Badgley and James Mischka tried to capture the “Luminous and Effervescent” with their Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2015 collection that has just been triumphantly unveiled during New York Fashion Week spring 2015 to mark the 25th anniversary of the fashion house. It actually was luminous and it did bring lots of effervescent designs that captured one’s hart instantly. As always, femininity and elegance have been pampered a lot in this collection, as we discover mainly show-stopping red carpet worthy gowns and bubbly cocktail dresses capable of making any lady look like a real diva. From the color palette chosen for the designs to the airy fabrics and breathtaking silhouettes, everything was made to measure to satisfy the style needs of even the pickiest cosmopolitan fashioniser of the modern world.
The Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2015 collection hit the runway as a fresh summer breeze kicking off with a drop-dead gorgeous look featuring a high-waisted pleated white chiffon skirt featuring a belt-like detail on the top and a minimalist white crop top topped with a tweed jacket reminiscent of the famous Chanel jacket. Next we saw a couple of pure white and cream pieces, being knee-length dresses or duos of elegant tops and flared knee-length skirts.
Soon the pastel fantasy took the role, bringing soft baby blue tones, grayish silver hues, beautiful lilacs and nude colors. Especially breathtaking were those enchanting floral patterns used in the ombre technique to give radiance and refinement to those charming gowns and dresses. Slight peplum details, transparency accents, occasional plunging necklines, delicate frills, intricate beadwork and a wonderful play with breezy fabrics like chiffon, organza and watercolor floral patterns put in the ombre style are all the wonderful details used to give life to this delicate collection.
While there were a couple of classic daywear pieces, the focus of the Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2015 collection was placed on the charming gowns (something that is like cakework for these designers). These pieces were characterized with big proportions of see-through fabrics used, which gave the desirable effervescent effect to the gowns. Especially memorable was the closing look, being a refined floor-length gown in a gradient blue tone, using watercolor floral patterns to somehow break the all see-through effect of the flowing skirt. The top part of the dress was embellished with intricate beadwork and floral appliqués that made this gown worthy for a goddess.
In terms of the accessories the looks presented were finished off with chic earrings, strappy heeled sandals and just a couple of them also featured small clutches. The accessories were kept to the minimum so that one’s entire attention was drawn to the breathtaking designs of those lovely dresses.
Beauty wise, the Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2015 collection show presented a new strange trend: dyeing eyebrows in pastel hues, which would look harmonious with the pastel ombre touches of the hair. Apart from this the models faces were completely bare.
After watching the Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2015 collection show, we can confidently say that we have our favorite line of desirable clothing pieces from this year’s New York Fashion Week now!
