Femininity and elegance are definitely the words for the spring to come, and you can convince yourself in this after a single glance at the Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2013 collection showcased during New York Fashion Week. The designer duo of the fashion house, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, looked to a 1935 film version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for inspiration and the result is a line of airy, flirtatious and breathtaking designs ideal for special and formal occasions. “When they shot that film, they put tulle and sequins in front of the camera to create that ethereal world”, said Mischka. Thus, the designer duo reinterpreted this ethereal feel through pretty Chantilly lace and embroidered tulle gowns, including the thrilling strapless dress with side ruffles.
Badgley Mischka can always be counted on, when it comes to statement-making gowns and feminine dresses, but this season, the designers also presented some lovely separates. The delicate white blouse tucked in a high-waisted golden skirt with side peplum details or the blush cellophane tweed top with a greige leather and jersey scalloped skirt, for instance, were some of the amazing style staples to this end.
Besides red-carpet-ready gowns, dresses and ladylike skirts, the Badgley Mischka spring/summer 2013 collection also included high waist pants, embroidered blouses, short blazers and jumpsuits. Organza, tulle, chiffon, tweed, brocade and lace were the main fabrics used, while gold, pretty pink tones, light blue, lavender and achromatic shades came to make the designs even more memorable. Of course, the designers couldn’t have missed the stylish ruffles, trendy peplum details and delicate embellishments, revealing their craftsmanship skills.
Beauty wise, the models at Badgley Mischka showed naturalness and a careless allure, walking with almost bare faces with slightly blushed cheeks and relaxed updos.
