Have you already said your farewells to Alexander Wang’s astonishing work at Balenciaga? All those tears and (summertime?) sadness you’ve experienced after his last Balenciaga fashion show during Paris Fashion Week … could start all over again, because we finally have the new images from the Balenciaga spring/summer 2016 ad campaign featuring Anna Ewers and Zoe Kravitz.
It’s the same collection, but such a different setting! We want to tell you all about the new campaign and photos … but, unfortunately, Wang has limited us with only two images (don’t get us wrong, we’re still thankful it’s not a single image; that would be really devastating). Two shots. That’s right, only two photos unveiled so far. An outside and inside looks of what the new ad campaign will be. We’ve seen the collection, we’ve seen the teaser, but somehow we have a feeling this will be an ad you will hardly forget.
Here’s why. We all know how designers leave their fashion houses – with their final word being a breathtaking fashion show, a loud echo they want to leave behind. And we all remember what Wang did for his last show at Balenciaga. He went all white and all intimate. We didn’t get any fireworks and color euphoria.
As brands like Prada, Gucci and Chanel started releasing their ad campaigns, we got carried away from the whitewashed atmosphere of Wang, but these two photos did bring us back to the Wang spotlight.
But we are still full of ideas! There is a lot to be guessed, but we think these two images already give out the main theme and elements.
The lingerie notes we’ve noticed earlier help in building the new theme for the Balenciaga spring 2016 campaign. We initially thought the campaign for this collection would be extremely intimate, as only white can look more sensitive than skin color. We were right in some way.
This campaign is very intimate, but it’s much more than that. There is also a sense of dreamy fantasy, a weekend filled with pleasures and deep mystery. When you get two astounding women in a mansion with a labyrinth and a big pool, believe us, that’s exactly how it feels like.
The choice of models is also very Wang-like. The heroines for the campaign are Anna Ewers and Zoe Kravitz. There is a predictable factor here, as it is known that Anna Ewers has been one of the muses of Alexander Wang. There is no collection without a muse, so her presence makes the effect of Wang’s last Balenciaga project even more nostalgic for loyal fans.
Overall, this is what we would normally expect from Wang. Exceptionally dark and extraordinary, and modern at the same time… White colors of the detailed designs complemented by the nude furnishing in the background. We just need to get more details (and photos, too!) of the airy story that is happening there.
We are excited to see what’s next; we have no idea what else is coming our way, but we’re sure it’s going to be striking creativity.
