Balenciaga is certainly one of the most important fashion houses in the world, when it comes to shaping the fashion trends for each season and bringing a statement-making style that keeps on inspiring It girls and modern fashionisers throughout the world. No wonder, everyone has been eagerly looking forward to the launch of the drop-dead-gorgeous Balenciaga spring/summer 2015 collection and the waiting wasn’t in vain! Today, Alexander Wang presented an extremely polished, smart and futuristic collection at Paris Fashion Week, making the most timeless shades of black and white the focus of the entire line. Bringing the luxury brand’s iconic avant-garde structural shapes and combining these with a high dose of elegance and polished femininity, Wang again managed to shape the future of a cosmopolitan woman’s style and personal wardrobe!
We have seen many stylish interpretations of monochrome black and white looks throughout the series of spring 2015 fashion shows, however, the Balenciaga spring/summer 2015 collection again manages to stand out in the crowd with its iconic approach to silhouettes that bring out all the charm and chic of these shades. This is exactly how the show opened, bringing a an awe-inspiring floor-length sleeveless black coat with some textured black gingham patterns applied on the places of the front pockets and having slightly rounded hemlines on the front part. This was topping a pair of elegant tailored shorts in black and a super-slim top with transparency inserts. Statement-making point-toe lace-up flats with fur motifs and a pair of futuristic sunglasses spiced up the entire look ideally.
The mood was kept the same way strict and to the point throughout the entire show, as we started to see pairs of playful tailored short shorts, tops and dresses made of see-through fabrics, a cute off-shoulder white top matched with black tailored pants, duos of pencil skirts and tops and tailored pants and tops. Then another mainstream trend popped out, being the fishnet, which had been used for designing those killer knee-length straight dresses, tops and even a long sleeveless coat in black.
Gradually, the Balenciaga spring/summer 2015 collection started to reveal more shades, other than black and white, bringing pastel lilacs, champagne roses and some touches of light gray. The play with avant-garde structural designs and fishnets started to get more intense, and we saw creative dresses, crop tops, pencil skirts and wanna-have cropped jackets using these vibes. We saw a couple of more floor-length coats, some more below-the-knee smart dresses and the magic ended!
All the looks were accessorized with equally interesting footwear options and sunglasses, as we saw in the case of the first look. Some looks used the same style of shoes only put as sandals, rather than flat shoes. There also popped out some classy clutches and bracelets, which were so Balenciaga too! The models makeup was kept to a minimum, while the hair was sleek and straight fitting in with the futuristic and modern feel of the show.
The Balenciaga spring/summer 2015 collection definitely managed to deliver even more than we had expected from the French fashion house, as here we have an array of show-stopping pieces that will make us look fashion-forward and cool throughout the new season to come. We say a definite yes to Balenciaga and to this amazing collection too!
