Barbara Bui Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – Paris Fashion Week

Barbara Bui may be of Vietnamese origins, but her pieces don’t seem to be reflecting that truth this time around, instead bringing her focus on the latest 2015 fall and winter season trends that often also transcend from the spring and summer seasons. These include the thigh high slits in the maxi dresses, the plunging deep V-necklines that come down past the bust and often down to the abdomen; the keyhole slits the plunge down to the abdomen, the belted dresses, and the asymmetrical skirts. We have the long trains in the back, despite the front being short and we have the featherweight materials fall in the same line-up as the leather undertakings. In the Barbara Bui fall/winter 2015-2015 collection, we have velvet and we have fur, bubble vests in high shine and cashmere coats. We even have lots of neoprene present on the set, with leather crop top and mini skirt sets making an appearance as well. What we don’t have is the transparent blouses that everyone seems to love of late, but we do have the legging style tight pants alongside the billowing wide legged versions and the straight cut ankle cropped trousers. We even see a whole lot of sequins appear on a few of the pieces coming in the last batches, from the trousers to the jackets, as well as the mini dress with the plunging neck and the asymmetrical hemline.

The colors seen throughout the Barbara Bui fall/winter 2015-2015 collection include a whole lot of black, dark blue and also a pale sky hue, a bit of brown and a few pieces in white. The palette is not extensive and it screams fall and winter loud and clear, with some of the looks meant to warm us up while the others may be a little too thin a material to offer much protection from the frozen winds. The dark navy blue dresses look positively divine, as expected from such a seasoned designer as Barbara Bui, a woman who opened her first clothing boutique in 1983 and who presented her eponymous brand on the Paris Fashion Week runway first in 1987. She has always loved using primitive materials such as leather, python, crocodile and furs, giving her garments a bit of a rock ‘n’ roll energy, while still allowing her to keep her cool but elegant edge. We certainly see this appearing in the 2015-2016 fall and winter season collection, what with the leather and the use of fur, as well as the two-piece brown snakeskin ensemble with the sleeveless top and short asymmetrical skirt that only serves to have a thin woman look even thinner.

Otherwise, the black leather suits the collection well and those keyhole slits have us redefining the concept of sexy fashionable attire for the rest of the year. Plus, who does not want to look utterly sexy in a loose keyhole blouse in a navy hue, tucked into a leather pair of pants with a brown leather loin region, and a gorgeous brown fur and black leather coat thrown about the shoulders? Add simple black leather booties with pointed toes to the mix and you have a pretty sophisticated casual look that is also quite perfect for a night on the town.
