Barbara Bui’s spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection showed well at Paris Fashion Week. The collection was beautifully well rounded and closed out with a bright neon bang. To be fair, there were hints of neon from the very beginning of the show, shown mostly in the shoes.
As the colors of the ensembles began to change, the lining of the accessories began to change, and more hints of neon began to pop up in the pieces. The marabou bomber jackets were amazing, they created incredible movement down the runway and were just very aesthetically pleasing overall. The size and shape were perfect, it was just the right amount of every element you could want from a bomber jacket and a marabou coat merged in one.
Finally, mid way through the show neon stripes over black began to show up in the form of an attractive two-piece. There were different patterns included in the collection especially the single shoulder mini dress, which looked amazing and brilliantly colored as well.
The looks shown directly after that dress were super bright neons with bags that could be worn as cross-body bags or fanny packs, and large clutches in bright colors and bold patterns. If the clothes were not short or form fitting, they were loose in just the right places to be firmly on trend. The Barbara Bui spring 2017 collection was a great runway show at Paris Fashion Week with a total of 45 looks, a good number of which were mini skirts and very tightly cut pieces.
Good sized clutches and cooler versions of the fanny pack were seen all throughout the runway, each a great option on its own. The open jackets were very fun and light hearted although some of the patterns were very consuming; they all complemented the ensembles very well.
The neon shoes were shown during the entirety of the collection’s runway presentation. The show had a distinct feel of summer and spring thanks not only to the bright colors but the lightness of the material used and how the pieces with enough material to them actually seemed to flutter down the runway on the models.
Some of the neon pieces even had a sheen to them that brought an extra dose of shimmer to the runway. Everything Barbara Bui designed for her ready-to-wear spring 2017 collection was there to be seen wherever it is worn; these clothes are not designed for blending in.
While they were not necessarily the focus, the shoes in this collection were amazing. They were bright without overbearing the more subtly colored pieces. They were comfortable looking and complementary and would be easy to integrate into a wide variety of wardrobes. As eye-popping as the clothes were, the accessories were equally amazing and important.
