The BCBG Max Azria spring/summer 2014 collection unveiled during New York Fashion Week today, September 5, 2013, was a nod to the brand’s heritage, which was something expected, since the brand is going to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. This means lots of simple lines, men’s tailored shirts revived, fab floral prints and classic elements with a modern twist. The new line of BCBG Max Azria is definitely one of the most versatile and fresh spring 2014 fashion collections that manage to stay within the trends zone of the new season without straying away from the roots of the designer house!
Backstage, the creative directors of the brand, Max and Lubov Azria tried to explain the essence of the new BCBG Max Azria spring/summer 2014 collection saying: “Our design approach has always been about deconstructing and reconstructing garments.”
The BCBG Max Azria spring/summer 2014 show opened with a crisp white cotton men’s tailored shirt featuring delicate floral prints and some transparency inserts, as well as a chambray one. Wholly, most of the dresses, shirts and skirts showcased had some masculine vibes through details, such as cuffs instead of the belts, yokes used as a peplum detail or flyaway tails on the edge. And if you think masculine fashion was the message of the collection, we dare to say you are mistaken, since the line showed off traces of sophistication and femininity through flowing gowns, dresses and pantsuits, but also romantic floral prints, organza and transparency inserts. For special occasions, the designer duo suggests wearing a tuxedo dress turned into a chiffon gown, a jacket or a jumpsuit.
While the start of the BCBG Max Azria spring/summer 2014 rtw show was mild and classic with monochrome looks mainly in white, light blue, cream or beige tones, the end was more impressive thanks to the line of brightly floral printed looks presented, which never looked overwhelming. This is maybe because the patterns were smartly mixed with sheer panels that gave a sensual and breezy touch to the outfits.
Most of the silhouettes demonstrated in the BCBG Max Azria spring/summer 2014 collection had clean and straight lines, which were beautifully broken by peplum details, deep plunges on the blouses or the sheer airy fabrics used.
No less spectacular were the accessory choices of the line, which included lace-up ankle sandals on heels, bags and clutches. And if you love to know the beauty trends according to BCBG Max Azria, keep things natural this spring!
