Betsey Johnson Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week

When the shows at New York Fashion Week ever get monotonous and boring (though they never do!), we can always rely on Betsey Johnson for some fun and extravaganza, as the fashion designer is best known for her love for flashy styles that describe the daring and revolting character of the wearer! The Betsey Johnson fall/winter 2014-2015 collection unveiled Wednesday night does satisfy our expectations, since it’s super-vigorous, vibrant and just cool! It seemed like most of the models had escaped from the movie “Pretty Woman”, wearing some super-short mini dresses with cutouts revealing lots of skin, matched with thigh-high boots or colorful socks. It was definitely a spectacular and one-of-a-kind show not only due to the pieces unveiled, but because Johnson did finally manage to realize her long-time dream of broadcasting her show live in Times Square. “I always want more people to see the show. This is an ‘I can’t believe my life’ moment for me,” she said backstage.

The Betsey Johnson fall/winter 2014-2015 collection brings super-duper eye-catching pieces for “the rock ‘n’ roll girl in every one of us,” as Betsey put it. Thus the catwalk got flooded with eye-feasting mini dresses, top and pants and top and shorts combos, seductive rompers, pleated skirts, skinny jumpsuits and maxi dresses with high slits. Although these pieces will really be quite hard to wear to the street, the line also featured some pretty wearable essentials, like the sassy jackets and coats, the printed sweaters and some cutie mini dresses.
The most eye-catching part of the line was provided by the choice of the color palette, consisting of fluorescent pinks, bright yellows, electric blues, lime greens, passionate reds, metallic gold and silver hues, orange, purple and fuchsia. Apart from this, the pieces did shine thanks to the sequins, lots of glittery materials and details used. There you could also see some creative prints, like the gun patterns and the fruit and floral prints, accompanied by wild animal patterns in different hues. Fur and transparency details are other mainstream trends spotted in the Betsey Johnson fall/winter 2014-2015 collection.

The models’ looks were heavily accessorized with oversized bags in leopard prints and bright colors, knitted beanies, chunky jewelry pieces, thigh-high colorful boots and shoes worn with striped colorful socks. And since “Betsey’s hot”, the show of the Betsey Johnson fall/winter 2014-2015 collection finished with some firemen appearing on the stage to put out the fire!
