The brides of the world often begin planning their weddings from a year beforehand, at the least! This means that the release of the Carolina Herrera bridal spring 2016 collection is just in time to get the ladies thinking about and ready to take on their nuptial celebrations in the upcoming year, with the warm weather, the pretty flowers, the sprouting trees and cool breeze taken into consideration and foremost in their minds. A bride looks forward to her wedding day since the time she understands the idea of romance as a child, planning her dress, her party, her guests and everything in between for years on end before a poor chap takes the bait and is reeled in, preparing to dish out the dough to give her the fairy tale event of the century, at least in her world. She puts her needs first, and one of the most important needs, if not the most important of all, is that incredible wedding dress that she can be made to feel like a princess at her first ball in.
“These brides are romantic…but I want them to be seductive,” stated Carolina Herrera to WWD, as the models milled about wearing gowns from her spring bridal collection. “That’s what they want to be, and that’s what they are, with their beautiful figures.” She really brought the beauty to the brides with ease, using sheer illusion detailing and adding bustiers to pull in the waist and define the sensual nature of the woman walking down the aisle, while still keeping her demure and fresh in the spring breeze.
The slender mermaid silhouettes had their own mesmerizing effect as the models sashayed onto the catwalk in silk Mikado, Chantilly lace and a whole lot of organza. With flower appliques and motifs embroidered by hand in cascading patterns and silk faille gowns setting a rather romantic tone, Herrera’s collection whispered the chic sophistication of a romantic wedding come spring. We saw cinched waists and tulle sleeves, sweetheart necklines and thicker straps over the shoulders. We even spotted a few strapless designs and halter looks, while we found the quality wedding suits to be especially pleasing on the eyes, even if they scream civil partnerships more than the traditional round of celebrations we so love to attend. Perhaps the embroidery at the ends of so many of the veils was what really got us though as we could imagine such beauty and grace felt from within after seeing this piece draped over the head from without. Furthermore, we saw a few lower necklines for the brides daring to bare more skin and tantalize husband, priest an guests alike as she dances throughout the night with abandon.
The flowers used within the Carolina Herrera spring 2016 bridal collection were jasmine and we can well imagine the flower shops having to stock up on these gorgeous buds. Why jasmine though? “When I was growing up, my bedroom was near the garden next to a jasmine plant,” Herrera explained. “It used to open in the evening, and the smell, I loved it.” And what is not to love about the purple blooms with their sweet scent and the wilderness embodied in their delicate stems. Forget about perfectly positioned pieces in a bouquet; the natural creations from jasmine are all you need come spring 2016.
