Celine Spring 2016 Campaign Illustrates Modern Photoshop Techniques

It appears that Celine has decided to remove the modern Photoshop techniques from its campaign and switch to the whole cut out from a magazine and post on colored paper project style that was all the rage in the late 1900s and early 2000s. Featuring models Vera Van Erp, Regitze Christensen and Karly Loyce, the whole of the Celine spring/summer 2016 campaign is rather interesting. From the settings to the clothing, the intriguing play on photography, lighting and image design, the whole thing seems to scream retro at the top of its lungs while the modern day looks clearly have major influence.

Celine Spring/ Summer 2016 Campaign

Including slicked-back hair pulling into a low braided ponytail to long sleeves on a full-length dress that clearly likes to show off the bust, puffy sleeves on an off-the-shoulder empire waist top matched with cropped center seamed pants, fur coats, lace edges on nightgowns turned outerwear, sexy side parts, bright red lips, stark white Western style boots and bags that are either too small or too large, this is a collection campaign that we simply cannot get enough of.

The French ready-to-wear and luxury goods brand owned by the LMVH group since 1996 has been doing pretty good in the design department of late, really picking up on the top trends and presenting them to us with special allure. In the recent Celine SS 2016 campaign photographed by German Juergen Teller, the models styled by creative director Phoebe Philo, it was all about the steely gazes, the cooler atmosphere and the appearance of snobbish luxury that would be recreated in a teen girl’s binder.

We still cannot get over the whole cut-out looks pasted onto plain colors. It is like a child was playing with Photoshop for the first time really. Then again, that is what captures the attention and will keep us talking about the intriguing brand’s intriguing new designs. Plus, we love black lace, voluminous sleeves and ivory jackets. Who wouldn’t?

What we love most though, beyond anything else, is the fact that we can pull out the overall trends reports for the SS 2016 seasons as per the Fashion Week runway shows a few months back, peruse the top trends, and find them among the Celine collection. From the colors to the cuts, the pieces themselves to the accessories worn, the handbags held and the shoes adorning the feet, everything is from the trends guide we had pulled together not too long back. We look forward to seeing what new and exciting creations Celine will put up for its upcoming fall and winter campaigns in the year as well!
