Inspiration sources don’t ask time, country or traditions and thanks to famous designers’ stunning creations, we manage to travel through time and discover many far corners of the world. The newest Christian Siriano fall/winter 2013-2014 collection showcased during New York Fashion Week takes us to Russia, to “the golden age of the Russian Opera” more precisely, as the designer stated. And this means an abundance of luxurious faux fur details used on skirts, blazers, dresses and coats, a detail that is so much loved by Russians and that was especially seen a lot during Russian opera performance.
The Christian Siriano fall/winter 2013-2014 collection radiates luxury, sophistication and femininity through pencil skirts, refined leather and fur pieces, intricate gold filigree details, fine velvet and polished proportions. The entire collection is composed of refined black and gold colors, with just occasional shining fuchsia appearing on a few dresses. Leather, Fur, velvet and the golden detailing instantly recalled the breathtaking decorations of Saint Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre, while whimsical crystal chandeliers attached to the red curtains during the show somehow gave the feeling that you were in a famous Russian Opera house and it’s a great performance, instead of the runway.
Gorgeous fur trimmed leather skirts with matching vests, black leather dresses and pants, knitted turtlenecks featuring fur on the shoulders, gold printed skinny Capri pants, white shirts, fur skirts, coats and sleeveless dresses coming accompanied with delicate black sheer headscarves are some of the options available in the Christian Siriano fall/winter 2013-2014 collection. At the end of the show, the designer flooded the runway with sophisticated and breathtaking evening gowns, featuring sequins, sheer fabrics and gold embroidery. That was just so Russian elegance and luxury!
