Stuart Vevers’ Coach spring/summer 2017 fashion show was everything that was expected of a Coach runway show during New York Fashion Week. There was a lot of patterned sheer material used in this line. Out of 45 total looks more than half of them feature a sheer overlay in a bold pattern or color.
There are studded leather fringe-skirted dresses and leather fringe-ankle-detailed boots. Coach has been known for its stellar leather work since the beginning of the brand, so it is no surprise to see such well-done details on any item on the Coach runway.
With a goal and a vision “to become the company that defines global modern luxury”, Coach is working to make things more accessible without sacrificing brand individuality, heritage and quality. Coach’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection is definitely new and interesting with a fully realized take on the very popular sheer trend. Sheer textiles have been used on several runways before and it is always interesting to see a new take on a previous trend – in this case Coach did not disappoint.
There are several different silhouettes, beautiful leather jackets and fur jackets in several lengths and little bags against incredibly interesting studded and in some cases studded and fringed platform shoes. There are so many different sheens to the sheer skirts and patterned dresses in the collection.
As a ready-to-wear line-up with so many different elements going on, it is important to note that there are patterns included in the see-through material, small vests and cool neckties and scarves.
Coach has been a formidable fashion line since 1941 when it was a family run New York City company. With so many different options with great elements to them it is so easy to decide that all of them are beautiful, but certain pieces are such standouts it is impossible not to highlight them.
One of the looks featured a leather coat with a pattern included, black leather fringe on the bottom. The shape is stunning, the look is original and the luxe aesthetic this coat has is undeniable proof of the talent and dedication from Vevers.
Coach has a fashionable history nearly eight decades strong that has inspired many others over the years. The SS 2017 collection was a strong show for New York Fashion Week, as expected on Coach’s home turf. Everything in this collection is so aesthetically interesting and the variety of textures is juxtaposed so beautifully against each other that there is no room to be bored when watching this runway presentation.
Suede against leather, patterns over sheer panels is an interesting mix that Coach showcased absolutely beautifully, while the use of Elvis Presley’s image on a couple of pieces only added to the rebellious spirit of the collection. As usual Coach has brought out an interesting and high quality looking collection that in no way could ever be considered anything but outstanding.
