Although richly embellished and brightly colored clothing pieces do attract attention at once, we are still forever in love with minimalism and modesty, since these are timeless trends. Derek Lam tried to bring timelessness and classics to New York Fashion Week with the Derek Lam fall/winter 2013-2014 collection, which he titled “elevated American style.” It was a smart 27-look line, which featured artisanal ensembles in a minimal style, sportswear touches and elegance.
The Derek Lam fall/winter 2013-2014 collection is the perfect fit for modern women, who love to have a versatile and always-trendy wardrobe, stuck with office-ready and casual clothing pieces, which have so much in common. The color palette of the collection brings charming camel, ivory, white, black, navy and burgundy tones appearing on satin, leather, fur and lace, resulting into understated elegant looks. The clothes were devoid of additional embellishments and were styled with minimal accessories with footwear, bags and sunglasses being the main options to choose from.
Outerwear, as usual with Lam’s style, was the focus of the Derek Lam fall/winter 2013-2014 collection. There were camel toggle coats and classic cape ones, which were worn over poncho dresses, tailored pants, blouses, leather skirts and body-hugging long-sleeved blouses with geometric effects. There is no doubt that the trends brought by the Derek Lam fall/winter 2013-2014 collection are going to be cherished styles for a few successive years to come!
