The Italian rock glam, street style fashion brand Diesel Black Gold that has definitely been the leading role in the denim history seems to have been so deeply merged with its designer Andreas Melbostad’s freethinker essence and street-smart style that we come to realize for already three years in a row what, in fact, means homogeneous atmosphere. It is when fashion shows kick off and the ball is on for Diesel Black Gold to play with all its colors. The Diesel Black Gold pre-fall 2016 collection recently unveiled is just another effective example of how harmoniously the 8-year-old brand and the designer, who has been patronizing the brand for only three years, may interplay with each other.
When among so many blue shades that very night blue is selected without any hesitation, then matched with sinister black and brought into play on such textures as Lurex, patent leather, shimmering velvets and jacquards, we cannot but figure out the designer to be making an overt reference to the city streets at night, with a dark blue sky overhead and flickering lights in the streets. Any pre-fall collection implies abounding in outerwear, a statement that we see at Diesel Black Gold as well, but not in their conventional shape.
Andreas Melbostad is playing with hems, making the back hemlines longer than the front ones whether we look to the quilted oversized jackets or the leather bikers. From the very beginning we catch the sight of a dark blue quilted jacket with its front and back lengths matching in no way, a unique designer solution keeping the ball going up to a leather biker. Leather bikers are occurring quite often but again in an innovative and typical-of-Melbostad style. A leather biker with wide short sleeves is cut a way to become a bolero jacket, another one has morphed into a canvas to bring forth floral motifs, while the third one is featuring a leather cape that is still keeping its biker-appearance.
Shimmering blue velvet, Lurex and jacquard may have been felt a fish out of water in this overall street-smart ambience, but they are, in fact, singing in unison with leather and denim. We see an array of velvet pieces, like a pair of cropped flared pants matched with an oversized slouchy sweater or an A-line super miniskirt with a casual top nonchalantly tucked under or that city-slicker flaring dress effectively matched with a leather bolero. Jacquard floral top is keeping with leather pants, while the Lurex blue jacket will look more than harmonious with city lights.
Tunic feminine dresses are also setting the tone especially when occurring with so many asymmetrical hemlines, while oversized sweaters worn over turtlenecks are just screaming to be used when drinking a cup of hot coffee in the café admiring the scene of the rain heavily pouring down. The design of pants does not change during the whole Diesel Black Gold pre-fall 2016 collection. We keep on seeing those cropped flares in one case tailored from denim, another time from leather, another time from velvet. And if pants are various in terms of their fabric, the chunky boots are exactly the same whether paired with pants, skirts or dresses.
Here is another amazing pre-fall 2016 collection that many city slickers may gravitate to and if this is your cup of tea, immediately head to black-blue kicky investigations once the collection hits the stores.
