Dsquared2 Fall 2016 RTW Collection Shows Master Class In Military Fashion

When identical twins are the ones working on your next wardrobe, you know that something fun will be coming out of it. There is always the chance that where one thinks one way, the other moves in an entirely other direction, effectively having extra minds and extra hands diligently piecing together outfits that will leave fans in awe. The customer in mind, Dean and Dan Caten make up Dsquared2 and bring to us a fall and winter collection for 2016-2017 that is beyond amazing in its combination of Victorian fashion, Samurai designs and combat wear.

Dsquared2 Fall/ Winter 2016-2017 RTW - MFW

There was just so much going on that we could barely move our eyes away, the cropped midriffs counteracted by the really fluffy ethnic printed coats that were all Asian and pretty close to samurai. That fur lined sequined camo parka is pretty awesome as well, along with the cuirasses crafted with cut colored fur. Outerwear ruled the runway here as Milan Fashion Week gets ready to close with Dsquared2 showing second on the final day before we head over to Paris.

Some of our favorite looks in the Dsquared2 fall 2016 collection are located during the opening pieces, with gorgeous fringed tops in pure white layered over black sweater and worn with camouflage pants. We have to admit that we are no fans of the tattoo sleeves or the open toe boots though. The cropped midriffs are an interesting look, with white body tanks worn underneath and Victorian style shirts layered on top that end above the belly button. Add on some gloves, tasseled and strappy sandals, along with a half wraparound skirt that leaves us wondering as to the nature of the outfit and you have Dsquared2 in a pinch.

Lacy tops, funky oriental design stockings, black sequin dresses, furry coats, dangling tassel earrings, lace tights under cropped khakis, velvets, prints and so much more make up one of the most interesting collections seen on the catwalk in Milan yet, though there may be those who beg to differ. We have a strange sense that the brothers are trying to do urban chic with a whole lot of culture involved here, which may or may not work in the end. The designs are new and untried, meaning that simply the curiosity around them will be enough to make it sell.

There are 38 looks to this line-up most very similar to one another, none that we can imagine on the red carpet, and many that would be fun to wear out to hang out with the girls. Darker colors and camouflage seem to be the top choices to turn to, while tassels are a favorite decorative aspect used on jewelry, shoes, and even the clothing.

Lots of pants in the mix, some denim, printed footless tights make a main attraction throughout. It is an interesting presentation to be sure, but that is what happens when there are two minds working on a single project together. Samurai has met urban clubber has met Victorian scholar has met army gal!
