You know you love Elie Saab. You’ve been waiting for this collection to hit the runway for a while now, ever since the first resort collections for 2016 began to unveil. What you did not expect, we are more than sure, is the excessive loveliness that flows from the ethereal Elie Saab resort 2016 collection. There are seven mini themes included here, but the underlying message is the same: 1970s and California are bunched together for an angelic discovery of superior fashion! We are talking palm leaves in silk tulle, presented in beaded designs, broderie anglaise gowns hanging far from the body, and the whole concept of shady days and bright nights taken to a whole new dimension. This is what Saab himself is calling this anyhow.
Elie Saab fashions are meant for the evening. We know this, have always known this and are now thrown for a loop when presented with more high noon looks that take our breath away. Retail jargon and dressy pieces are shown off beautifully, each meant to be worn while the sky is blue and bright and there are the sun’s rays to warm your skin. Gorgeous lacy dresses that took on a different spin from his usual comfort zone, going for the looser pieces that showed off skin while not really cinching in the waist as he loves to have it done, entered the equations as well. This collection included plunging necklines, gorgeous white lace, defined waists along with the looser fabrics that billowed all about and fairy like designs that somehow seem to show off a whole new world, all on its own.
The lace was prominent though. It was really prominent. It appeared in white and black, as well as light pink, looking as spectacular as always. It wasn’t just lace we saw either. We see gorgeous blues on fluttering garments, gowns that reach the floor and look like they belong to an angel resting against the clouds. Halter tops make an appearance quite nicely as well, shown off in blues and pinks, while cape like flowing dresses come in black. Ruffles in chic subtlety take over here and there as well, having us think of pretty witches invading Heaven. Perhaps the most interesting piece out of all of them, however, is the high waist pressed trousers with the blue, red and black floral patterned top, defining the silhouetting that brings in the CEO look full throttle. Add a red and black leather bag to the mix, throw on some golden hoops and you have yourself the perfect daytime look that transfers quite nicely to happy hour.
Trends that appear among the Elie Saab resort 2016 collection include off the shoulder designs, A-line full falling skirts, organza fabrics along with crepes, and fringed leather handbags that keep our hearts beating for months now in the fashion world. Stripes are in, while shiny fabrics seem to be coming in for 2016, pretty teal colors appearing here and there and everywhere. The daytime collection is as divine as the eveningwear, but then again, did you expect anything less from one of the best designers in the world?
