The magnificence of an Elie Saab dress cannot be underestimated. Truly. More often than not, they are some of the more fantastic creations in the world of fashion, wherein even the least fashion savvy can understand the superb talent that goes into designing a piece that is meant for a princess. The looks appear as if they are made for a medieval set that centers on luxury and incredible style… something like CW’s “Reign” perhaps? While there are tons of Elie Saab gowns out there and each of his shows is never over without the unveiling of one incredible splendor after another, the house has never fully forayed into the realm of bridal wear. Well, until today, as we have the first Elie Saab bridal collection unveiled for spring 2017!
Saab’s ready-to-wear designs have offered silhouettes that range in style, from the traditional to the daring, the fairy-tale to the gala nights. We’ve had voluminous tulle and satin ball gowns covered in grand beading and accented with floral embroidery along with different pieces in appliques, while dotted tulles often gave the designer a more individual spirit, fun and happy. We see it all in the Elie Saab spring 2017 bridal collection as well, with a whole lot more really.
We see sweetheart necklines and long sleeves, long veils and gently beaded bodices on the more conventional designs, while there are a few that appear with short hems, gauzy skirts showing off the silhouettes of the limbs underneath, chiffon capes and wholly unconventional looks which include skirts over pants. We see lovely bohemian styles with lots of lace, short sleeves to add a touch of demure personality and a few pieces that explore and deep dipping V-neckline to complete it all.
Of course, there is no way Saab would not have included a modern rendition of a ball gown among the mix as well, with added heavy skirts lending volume to the hips. While most are quite demure in standing, there are a few that take on a more sensual design, such as the soft guipure dress that falls in layers and very clearly shows off the legs after a not so modest covert down to the upper thighs. We have to admit that the caped translucent pieces are probably the best rendition of traditional with modern combinations, the beauty captured in form-fitting dresses complete with cathedral length veils.
Saab seems to focus quite a bit on the waist throughout, either adding thin white belts to accentuate the look or clearly defining where the waist ends and puffed skirts begin. He even has gorgeous ensembles with high-waist trousers that fall to the floor, perfectly pressed and paired with a tulle long-sleeve top along with a white furry handbag. There is just so much elegance in each of these looks.
Tulle and guipure are undoubtedly the favorite materials to use, some sort of transparency in mind with each creation, long sleeves a definite favorite to add to the luxury of the gown and a detailed use of feathers from time to time to create that perfect touch. It is perfect for spring 2017!
