We can always count on Milan Fashion Week to bring us some of the most acclaimed and renowned names of not only the Italian fashion industry, but also of the whole fashion world. The Italian fashion label Emporio Armani is, undoubtedly, one of these names. Thus, the second day of MFW spring 2015 brings us the wonderfully elegant Emporio Armani spring/summer 2015 collection, all drenched in blue! When Giorgio Armani, the founder of the Italian brand, decided to create his own fashion house, he probably did not expect that one day it will turn into a powerful fashion “empire”. Today the Italian fashion house has taken over the whole world, its boutiques can be found in almost every corner of the world, which makes the phrase “an empire on which the sun never sets” apt for Giorgio Armani’s empire as well. Emporio Armani is clothing, accessories, underwear, swimwear, sunglasses, watches, jewelry, perfumes and so on.
The Emporio Armani spring/summer 2015 collection was probably the bluest collection the designers of the brand had presented. The color palette included almost all the shades of blue mostly combined with white. Most of the looks were rather relaxed, apt for everyday stroll and outings with friends. Dark blue figure-hugging pants were topped with light blue oversized shirts made of cotton, short pants were combined with collared somewhat smart shirts, dark blue and white striped miniskirts were worn with zip-up blue jackets that had a touch of shimmer in them and so on. The shimmery dark blue fabric was also used in short skirts with matching short-sleeve loose tops, in pants in forms of patches around thighs and so on.
Looks in the darkest and the lightest shades of blue turned out to be the most elegant. Armani had also paid attention to emphasizing the slim waistlines of the models with belts and special tailoring. Short jumpsuits with deep V-necks were of particular interest to us, as they were sporty, but had some sense of hidden elegance in them. Towards the end of the show, the stripes started to appear on more and more outfits: ankle length pants with matching jackets, short raincoats and sweaters were all patched with this pattern, which, like polka dots, remains to be among the fashion trends of the coming year.
At the very end of the show Mr. Armani, as if to prove us that we were wrong to assume that the collection was “rather casual and for everyday strolls”, presented a gorgeous array of cocktail dresses in dark blue, ending the Emporio Armani spring/summer 2015 collection show in a high note. Dresses were mostly short, nothing too flowy or buoyant, yet they were utterly amazing and we are sure they will be on the lips of everyone for a long time. We all know that dark blue (well, maybe along with black) is the color of elegance, and taking this fact into account, Giorgio Armani had designed some of the most elegant and chicest pieces we have seen at Milan Fashion Week catwalks so far: spaghetti strap dresses with feathery skirts, off-shoulder ones with corsets, one shoulder dresses with layers going all the way from shoulders to the hems of dresses and so on. The designer did not forget about shimmer either creating wonderfully dazzling pieces that would make you the queen of the dance floor.
The shoe collection of Mr. Armani was quite various this time, ranging from open toe strapped high heels to sneakers and flat sandals.
Well, this was some new kind of Emporio Armani, wasn’t it? New or old, we loved it! We loved everything about the Emporio Armani spring/summer 2015 collection: color combinations (although there were few), the combinations of different pieces, oh and those dresses? They were to die for!
