When looking for something new, inspirational and stuffed with an abundance of cool ideas we turn to the Italian luxury fashion house Fendi. One cannot easily understand the grandeur of a single mind’s talent to direct two leading fashion houses and keep them so incredibly diverse. However, believe it or not, it exists and Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of the famed French fashion house Chanel and Italian design house Fendi, is the living proof of it. After the release of the unusual for him minimalist Chanel fall/winter 2015 collection campaign, he now issues the super curious Fendi fall 2015 campaign. Capturing the pictures himself, he lenses his current muse Kendall Jenner alongside the British top-model Lily Donaldson. This again prepares us to see the fall season seized by the American model and sister of Kim Kardashian, Kendall, who just coins this up to her latest campaign list featuring of Calvin Klein and Estee Lauder.
Inspired by the famous movie The Royal Tenenbaums for the Fendi fall 2015 collection, Lagerfeld captures the models posing next to real life-size puppets. Kendall and Lily appear in the pictures alone with the puppets, which have matching color scheme and sometimes posture with the models and the pieces they wear. We can see an extreme abundance of varying coats on them, which we already loved from the collection’s runway show. The background is black letting the clothes pop up to the front catching first sight of us watching. Lily Donaldson gets majestic poses to stand in thus looking as gorgeous as ever. Her blonde hair gathered back with messy side bangs left in front go perfectly with the snow-white long-sleeve shirt embellished with two big buttons like from Pinocchio cartoon, teamed with abstract tea-length rust skirt with deep grey side adds. The puppet next to her rocks the gold and white, though we certainly know who the boss is in the picture.
In other pictures Donaldson again is on the front view making us look only at her admiring the graphic fur coat matched with black leather boots or the white bag ornamented with colorful stripes that she carries. Kendall deserved quite a lot of pictures in this photoshoot, though we cannot talk about her sporting them all on the highest. In some pictures she somehow blends with the background, like the one where she embraces the red-white puppet, wearing knitted snow-white sweater topped with a burnt orange-red vest. But we do like the stunning pictures where she sports the fluffy furry long grayish coat teamed with pink-white boots on her crazy-long legs, or the playful image with her standing face to face with the penguin puppet in the same pose rocking the fire-red skirt-suit with knitted sweater. Some pictures show her hair blended with the background black, but this shows off her fabulous cheekbones hinting on her ability to perfectly sport pixies, why not!
On the whole, the playful nature of the Fendi fall/winter 2015-2016 campaign appears both entertaining and gorgeous mixing two style edges. We think that this beautiful tribute of respect to the memory of Swiss artist and sculptor, representative of abstractionism in art, Sophie Taeuber Arp, is a total success. Thank you for the joyful and nimble experience, Karl!
