Unsurprisingly, the campaign is already splitting the public into two polar opposite groups. While on the one hand there is Kendall’s big fan base that obviously loves the final results, on the other hand many are accusing her of being kind of static and lifeless in the photos, not appreciating her as one of Fendi’s muse (if you’d like to share your opinion regarding this debate, you’ll just need to go to Fendi’s Instagram page).
Whether we like them or not, the Kardashian-Jenner clan will always find a way to be in the headlines, with the Jenners specifically breaking through the Fashion Hall of Fame (they have just expanded their clothing line with handbags). After Lagerfeld’s appointment as one of his golden girls, Kendall Jenner in particular is riding high in the fashion industry, with her looks already being trending topics on the main social media (she also modeled Fendi’s fall 2015 ad campaign and, last week, opened Fendi’s 90th anniversary runway couture show on the Trevi Fountain).
In Fendi’s fall 2016 ad campaign, the German fashion designer featured Kendall as the ultimate uber-chic It-girl, enhancing her beauty with a sophisticated androgynous look.
The campaign premiered earlier this week on both Instagram and Twitter, revealing also that the photographer behind the pictures is once again Karl Lagerfeld (who more recently shot the Karl Lagerfeld fall 2016 campaign too).
“Karl. Kendall. Need we say more? The new advertising campaign for #FendiFW16 photographed by #KarlLagerfeld,” one of the captions read.
Eye-catching and softened through a cold lens, which instantly recalls wintery atmospheres, Fendi’s fall/winter 2016-17 ad campaign shows a few appealing ways of getting all styled up in the upcoming months. Aside from Jenner’s androgynous look, whose bouffant hairstyle will surely be all the rage starting from September, Lagerfeld styled the 20-year-old model with multi-colored Sixties-inspired looks, composed of a puffed button-down striped shirt or blouses dipped in pleasing color-blocking patterns, and a pair of dark-toned trousers.
Vivid blue and burgundy luggage handbags remind us that Fendi will never stop treating us to It-bags, especially when it comes to luggage handbags and cross-body purses. One of the pictures reminds, however, that Fendi has not joined the fur-free group of fashion houses yet (where we already have Armani), and this is creating a bit of a fuss actually.
Lastly, Jenner’s notorious thick eyebrows got paired with a heavy smokey eye look, a makeup style we are about to see more and more during the autumnal months.
