There’s something pretty cool about a brand called Free People. You have to admit, it’s pretty catchy standing out there all alone, but add some gorgeous models to the picture, such as Martha Hunt and Catherine McNeil, and the brand really manages to stand out with the boho-chic Free People spring 2015 collection preview. With the weather getting colder by the day if not by the hour, spring collections are a good reason to look ahead instead of lamenting about the dull, grey and sunless season outside. It’s almost worse without the snow as a storm like Buffalo’s could mean a forced day off because of the unwanted weather. This way we neither get a break nor a mood lift that can only be caused by the sun. Fortunately, we have spring and summer fashion collections to peruse through while we wait for better days to dawn.
This time, Free People, an American Bohemian apparel and lifestyle retail company that’s part of Urban Outfitters Inc., has taken to the road and arrived in New Mexico to do the photo shoots. The desert background is certainly enticing at the moment. Even more captivating are the striking images the models in pink and blonde hair pose.
There’s something so beachy and free about these designs. While Martha Hunt poses in a long flowing, ankle-length summer dress that becomes sheerer as the eyes travel lower down her legs, Catherine McNeil looks positively magnificent in white lacy camisole with fringed sheer lace maxi skirt, finished off with a gorgeous golden choker necklace and knee-length comfortable summer jacket. The girls seem to be wearing boots and that does seem rather out of place. Then again, this is New Mexico so any style goes. Of the two, we would certainly go with Catherine’s fashion sense.
High waist cotton jeans, comfortable dark denim light sweater and a gorgeous bra shown off to the world greet us just as we were wondering of Free People does denim on denim fashion. It’s a laid-back, comfortable, off-the-grip type of style that pulls at the spirit. The tomboy in us has fallen in love already, while the bohemian is considering the options. Definitely a good set to have in the closet, nevertheless.
Sheer white shirts at tunic length, cropped white pants cut just above the ankles, and zip comfortable shoes that have us dying to get our hands on them also make their mark on the next season’s collection. Definitely in tune with the latest cropped pant styles, this edgy look is rather peaceful, breezy, and certainly stylish. That shirt alone has enough embroidery at the edges to bring out the heavenly look. What with the white sandy background, it almost appears as if we’ve slipped into more Heavenly photography and a divine line in the fashion industry.
White on white on creamy white seems a little much without the added bonus of contrasting accent jewellery around the neck. Chokers are in it seems and we can start taking out our Bohemian pieces from the early 2000s at this point. Comfortable wraparound fringed sleeveless vests over flowing beach style maxi dresses are a perfect combination for the warmer spring weather it appears and we know we’ll be ready for it.
There’s something somewhat Native about this look, bringing Pocahontas to mind when we stare at the lower regions, between the belt and the hem. A long tunic shirt lightly belted with silver and ornate accessories, this look we like a lot. Actually, we know we’ll probably be opting to buy such pieces for our closet as soon as they hit the racks.
