Giambattista Valli Couture Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection

What do they say? Birds of a feather flock together, right? Valli’s got a pretty good sense of humour in this case, opening the Giambattista Valli Couture fall/winter 2015-2016 collection show with the feathery pieces, moving into the flowers of the meadows and ending with ladies drifting on clouds. A dream it all is, we might say. The women turned to birds, frolicking through the meadows and sleeping among the gods of the Heavens. And why not? A designer’s imagination is the best thing he or she has got. In this case, the incredible Giambattista Valli, a true designer of the 21st century, has truly taken his level of creativity up a notch and put aside the pomp and glamour. Of course, it appears as if the feathery clouds also come in orange flavours for the sun is setting rather brightly against one particular dress that gives a shapeless top quite the effect.

Giambattista Valli Couture Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection

When it comes to the Giambattista Valli Couture fall 2015 collection, there are many trends that we notice really taking space. This includes the latest fad of tunics over ankle cropped pants, matching twin sets and all, center slits, lacy materials, ruffled dresses, floral patterns, major cut out action, flared end pants that fall over shoes to the floor, and a whole lot of tulle. Feathery fringes, of course, have their own place throughout the line, from among skirt ends to muffs for the hands, hanging from cape jacket edges to pant hems from the knees on downwards and every other manner in similar style you can imagine. Add strappy sandals and peep toe platforms with ankle straps to the mix, put on the incredibly bizarre round sunglasses that are a few sizes too large for the models’ faces, hang some incredibly dangly, large feathery earrings, and you have the latest in Valli looks that is just bizarre enough to make it to couture. We certainly would not mix most of these with ready-to-wear garments.

For those who love to show off the legs fully, here are a bunch of looser mini dresses or skirts that fall quite a few inches above the knees. Those who love the see through style can opt for either the strapless (or short sleeved) dresses with tulle skirts stiffly hanging outwards or the lacy leggings and bodysuits, alongside those tunic and trousers twin sets that look like either winter or summer have hit the world. Our personal favourites include the wraparound draped garments with the body skimming materials, arms left bare or covered, even the possibility of an added small cape.

We have to admit though, of some of the best trends that we see in the Giambattista Valli Couture fall 2015 line, the higher necks do the ladies all justice, elongating the bodies and giving them some sort of sex appeal not found elsewhere. The printed vines on one particular asymmetrical dress has us thoroughly mesmerized though, with the short front and trailing train, long sleeves, high neck and matching accessories, particularly those larger than life earring sets. There is just something so very Giambattista Valli about that particular design.
