Ginger & Smart is an Australian fashion lifestyle brand founded in 2002. The brand’s founders, Alexandra and Genevieve Smart, nurture a unique style using high-quality raw materials accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia. Alexandra used to be a lifestyle magazine editor, while Genevieve worked as a designer for a couple Australian brands. They designed for women with distinctive style who like to feel unique and empowered. They offer luxury contemporary pieces of clothing mixed with playful elements that accentuate the women’s individuality.
The brand has progressed a lot since 2002. Ginger & Smart now is well-known both internationally and in Australia. In its home country, there are 4 standalone stores and their collections are sold in more than 60 boutiques including David Jones. Their latest presentation was at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week where the brand showed its Resort 2018 Collection. Ginger & Smart has a successful history with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and this year’s show was no exception.
Ginger & Smart Resort 2018 Collection included playful pieces of clothing with a mild dose of an avant-garde feel. The designs are overall very wearable and ready to rule under the hot summer sun.
The collection was dominated by layered colorful dresses. The voluminous heavily layered blush dress got everyone’s attention. Other, similar voluminous dresses paraded on the runway.
Despite all the layers, the dresses were still very suitable for real-life occasions and seemed very comfortable to wear. A huge fashion moment was the double ruffle dresses, where the second ruffle was usually made from a sheer organza or a different fabric. Speaking of sheer, models wore many transparent skirts and dresses enriched with a lot of details or abstract prints.
Wide-leg trousers and transparent dresses stepped out of the comfort zone featuring leather decorations.
Ginger & Smart devoted great attention to the accessories. The bags and shoes were the highlights of the collection, predominantly in vivid bright colors. Shades of bright green, pink and blue could be seen on most of the platform Teva-like sandals and barrel bags.
The designers Genevieve and Alexandra Smart incorporated artistic haute couture details surprisingly well into their latest designs and turned them into pieces that every woman can wear. The Resort 2018 Collection is very versatile and has the perfect dress for any mood. There are relaxed, comfortable and playful cuts for long walks on sunny days. On the other hand, for women who are not afraid to express their sexuality, Ginger & Smart made the perfect ultra-sensational see-through dresses.
