Ships ahoy! The floppy hats are in and we cannot thank Giorgio Armani enough for the incredible comeback of a favorite vacation staple. While some other designers opted for sun and flattery, even some that went more on the risqué side, the Giorgio Armani resort 2016 collection has stuck with the more conservative but entirely pampered looks of the working professional, taking into account the population that leads the type of lifestyle these pieces are created for. Think crepe suits and pretty coral ties, striped tops with batching bow belts and sexy culottes that keep making an appearance season after season, collection after collection in the fashion world of late. Add dual colored pumps, see-through blouses with strategically placed darkened designs and dual tone gorgeous floppy hats and you have an ensemble to be reckoned with. The reddish coloring of some of the pieces reminds us of the 1980s, of momma’s old clothes you used to try on from her closet. They are high-waisted and sexy beyond belief, cut to flatter the figure without giving away too much of the body’s silhouette.
Sideways zippers, loose fitting pleated pants, gloves and matching coral saddlebags give us a rather intriguing outfit idea, what with the chic meats conventional meets fun meets kickass combination look. Deep side parts and height added to the crown will give you the 1980s meets 2016 look you want. Wraparound skirts, cotton tees tucked into plastic style shiny striped skirts, matching handbags and stringy sandals all combine for an old world meets the future ideal. The play is on the pink, red and coral with the white and the black to create the individual designs that we see here. Ruffled hems and high necklines prove to be grand combinations, while snakeskin espadrilles with matching handbags are coming in for the coming year. It would be interesting to see how this plays out for the major collections revealed later on in the year. There are some distinctively Spanish inspirations in there as well, while poncho designs have their own place among the line-up. Crisp white tuxedos made for the woman’s body are probably one of the loveliest pieces made for the Giorgio Armani resort 2016 collection.
Extreme high waists, oversized blazers, thin belts and shiny materials come into play throughout. The hems are cut off above the ankles, often at the calves, the colors are both strong and in gentler, purer shades, while there is a bit of teasing there with shiny coats worn over bare chests and high waist dressy culottes. This is a collection we can enjoy with ease. There are no over the top designs, no crazy inspirations. What we have with Giorgio Armani is good old fashioned designing techniques that leave us requesting for more! After all, what is a resort collection without your dressier designs and more settled color tones to show maturity and comfort in one’s position in this world. A woman need not always flash herself about, but exude her strength and appear with subtle arrogance, her stance that of a queen instead of a princess pining for the throne.
